Wildfire Smoke: Canadian wildfire smoke will drift across the US this weekend, bringing some smoke to North Carolina. Our best chance to see some hazy and enhanced sunrises and sunsets will be on Saturday; you may notice it.

I'm not expecting significant smoke; that’ll lead to lower air quality levels, though.

If you could find it in your heart to help this rescue located in Scotland Neck with medical costs for this sweet kitten, it would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

So a little update on Smallfry and a trigger warning. Rescue isn't always pretty but it sure is worth it. Smallfry was brought in by a good samaritan who stepped up when others didn't. He was found in a ditch and had a mysterious wound that had maggots. They were easily removed without harming Smallfry and he seemed to turn into a different kitty then. He was nothing but skin and bones and is having a hard time maintaining his body temp and requires a constant heat source. We thought this baby had a 10 percent chance of survival but he is a fighter and continues to surprise us. Everyday he gets a little stronger. But he still has a rough road ahead and isn't completely out of the woods. His wound is healing and it wasn't severe enough for stitches but must be cleaned and flushed often. We can't wait to show his after pictures! If you would to donate to his care our paypal is here: https://paypal.me/woofsnpurrsanimalres?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US
As always THANK YOU for your support!!!!!!

Numerous studies have shown that commercial snake repellents, whether chemical-based or natural, do not effectively deter snakes. The active ingredients in these products do not impact snake behavior as advertised.

Thinking about using mothballs? Think again! Not only are they useless against snakes, but using them outside is also illegal. Mothballs are harmful to wildlife, pets, and people.

Want to keep snakes away? Keep your yard tidy and seal off entry points. And remember, if you see a snake in your yard, it might be helping with a rodent problem you didn't even know you had!

This is one of our Parting Shots appearing in the May edition. The photo was submitted by S. Jean Pierce and was taken by her daughter, Jill foster, last year in Jimmies Creek at Lake Gaston. Andrew Caetano was driving the boat while Sam Walker enjoyed an early morning slalom skiing when the creek was smooth. There is still time to get those photos in for June's edition.
