This is a longer profile of a unique patient case that the Operation Walk Chicago team treated during our trip to Kathmandu, Nepal, in mid-November 2024. This young woman needed both knees replaced, something that is rarely seen among younger people in more developed countries like the U.S. I hope to post a shorter version of this soon!

Elizabeth is a Chicago-based actor and singer. In her fourth production with the company, she is so excited to work on another exciting project and continue to sharpen her skills. Recent credits include Célimène in Misanthrope, Thaisa in Pericles with Forest Theatre Company, the New Works Showcase at the Athenaeum Center; and Penelope Pennywise in Urinetown at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her BA in Theatre. For those of you in the near western suburbs, I want to let you know about the Forest Park Theatre's Shakespeare Birthday Brunch coming up in two weeks at Piacere Mio, formerly Gaetano's, on Madison St. in Forest Park. This is a sit-down meal on Sunday, April 21st, from 12 - 2 pm, and will include a few short readings by actors and the artistic director, Richard Corley, a theater professor at UIC. The brunch is a benefit for the organization with Piacere Mio donating the food & venue (cash bar not included) with individual tix priced at $75.

Forest Park Theatre has plans to establish a permanent location in the village to serve as a professional dramatic arts training and performance center. I've become involved with Forest Park Theatre over the past year as they stage not only a play by Shakespeare each summer, but perform dramatic readings throughout the year. This winter, for example, the group has been doing monthly readings of plays by women. You can check them out at the American Legion Hall in Forest Park this Thursday & Sunday evenings (April 11 & 14), at 7pm as the group performs "Jane Eyre" adapted by Polly Teale.

I hope you'll consider joining us for the Shakespeare brunch event on the 21st. Many thanks for any consideration. Of course tax deductible donations to Forest Park Theatre can be made directly on the website as well.
