I try to let the song and the beat and the mix become it's own life, a little creature, a little being, a joined focus between me and the sound and the audience. When I DJ, I help nurture that little beat, that instance/ that creature that is electronica. I keep it alive, or pump it up, let it dance, and then let it relax and go deeper, and so on. For me, that approach frees me up to play whatever

mood, style, tempo I want, as long as it tells a story, maintains the continuity of the creature, the legit feel of the beat.
