Yes, taking the time to learn new things as we age is great for our cognitive health. While aging does often come with changes in thinking, many cognitive changes are positive, such as having more knowledge and insight from a lifetime of experiences.
Trying and learning new skills may even improve cognitive abilities. For example, one study found that older adults who learned quilting or digital photography had improved memory.

Tip of the Month! Dealing with tough coffee stains? Denture cleaner is the best for getting those pesky stains out!
1. Dissolve one denture cleaning tablet per two cups of hot water.
2. Pour it in the stained cup and let it sit for several hours.
3. Then use a scrub brush to clean off the stains and all the loosened bits.
4. Pour the solution out and rinse thoroughly.
Do what can be done in 5 minutes right away. Smaller tasks won’t add up to a large burden that seems too big to accomplish.
National Wear Blue Dayđź’™
On June 18, celebrate Wear BLUE Day by sporting a blue outfit and discussing the health issues that plague men across the world. Awareness regarding health issues occurring in the male population is critical since, on average, men live at least five years less than women. This is because men avoid health checkups, and are mostly unaware of the ailments that may take their lives a few years down the line. However, on Wear BLUE Day, we aim to decrease the number of diseases in men by promoting regular checkups and highlighting the health issues men may be facing.
Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated in the first full week of May, from May 1 through May 8 in 2022, and is when teachers get the extra credit they deserve. The big day is Teacher Appreciation Day on May 5, but teachers are just so great that they get a whole week to savor our appreciation. Whether you have a teacher, know a teacher, or are a teacher, there are endless ways to give a little extra support to teachers and teachers organizations. Teaching is known to be a time-consuming and challenging profession, so this week is our chance to say thank you to those that play or have played such a huge role in our lives. Who doesn’t have a fond memory of a teacher who inspired us in some way?
