When Does Your State Legislature Meet? Fires in California, Trump Visits N.C. and California
New shows launch this month on the LeRue Press Network. “It’s About Accountability” and “Legislative Activities”, both covering some aspect of local, regional and national concerns and our representatives in government. In the first episode of “It’s About Accountability”, we covered the investigation of Devon Reese, Reno City Councilman and 2 ethics complaints. In addition, some political representatives seem to have a strong desire to merge Truckee Meadows Fire, City of Reno and Sparks Fire Departments. The outgoing Fire Chief was critical of this move unless there was further study of the consequences. Nevada goes into legislative session in February for 120 days. When does your state convene? Or are they already in session? We’ll talk about the different states and their approach to governing.

Word of the day-The picture above provides a good representation of the word of the day but it is not commonly used.
President Trump visited North Carolina and California in his first week in office. We’ve received a couple of reports via tips and social media that paint a difficult picture of what is happening in California. All unconfirmed reports but troublesome.
We’ll update you on the state of Beneficial Ownership reporting. And Doug’s working on stories that you just can’t make up! On a more light-hearted note, we’ll have food for thought on Super Bowl favorites and publishing industry challenges.
Tune in every week on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. on the LeRue Press Network or 7-9 p.m. in northern Nevada on 93.7 FM an America Matters Media station. We live stream on the LeRue Press Network on Rumble , on our You Tube channel, or Facebook on any of our 3 pages: LeRue Press, What’s the Story or Book Hound.

Last Minute Pardons & Executive Order (Biden) and a New Administration
Inauguration day has come and gone but brought a couple of surprises. Pardons, executive orders from both sides and many events despite the very cold weather in Washington. Was it what you expected? President Trump is calling it “Liberation Day”.
Have you considered what it would take to care for a loved one in the event of a health event? Have you planned ahead? Do you think it’s necessary? Ed’s experience has given him “food for thought”.
As most authors know, there are no shortcuts to publishing a book. There’s a group that is trying to shortcut the process to publish A LOT of books in a year. Will they be successful?

Defending "Democracy", Palisades Fire, & Pizza
First Hour: You just can’t make that up! Some ridiculous events would never hold up to an editor’s critique but happen in real life. Doug talks a bit about that on What’s the Story?/Book Hound on Tuesday. We are a week away from the inauguration. Things have been visibly quiet. Is it the calm before the storm? And Democracy seems to be a word that’s thrown around glibly. Janice has some comments on that. It is National Pizza Week. What’s your favorite? Ed will talk about the pros and cons.
Second Hour: Paul White of Education Crusade joins What’s the Story?/Book Hound to give us a live update of what is going on in the homeless community in northern Nevada. White recently quoted a peace officer who said, “We have to enforce the law even if they don’t have a roof over their heads…” when talking about the homeless.

We’ll take a look at some current headlines and some history too. We’ll add in some food topics and mix it all up.

UFOs? Fights on the Field? China Cutting Cables? Bomb Threats at Thanksgiving?
If you know your commandments, this is not one of the words but it’s similar. Some good synonyms for this one even if Doug will not be with us this week.
What a variety of topics we have to cover this week. UFOs, including a little history that relates, fighting on the field in Ohio; did China cut cables in the ocean? Homelessness, immigration. Wow, lots to discuss.
We’ll also talk a little publishing. How are you, as an author, handling rising costs when publishing and marketing your books?

In the 1st hour, we’ll discuss government waste, first amendment issues facing our country and specifically our county in Nevada, Washoe County. Why does the government want to suppress speech? It's Over...Or Is It?
Elections 2024
A report in the New York Times about the races in the House states: “Aside from a handful of very close races that have come down to the final ballots, most of the races are in Western states where counting is expected to continue for days.” For days you say? Why for days? Nevada and Arizona are still counting as I write this. Do you find that strange? Our show airs on Tuesday from 3-5 p.m. Pacific…will the counting be done by then? It just seems odd, don’t ya think?
We’ll talk about some of the celebrity and high profile folks that said they would leave if Donald Trump won. Where are they now?
