KOLO CARES UPDATE: We have wonderful news to share about Bear the cat! 🐱❤️

Bear's surgery at UC Davis Veterinary Hospital went "very well" today according to his veterinarian. The 1-year-old cat who was rescued from a 50-foot tree near McQueen High School in November needed life-saving surgery to repair a liver shunt.

When we first shared Bear's story, the community rallied in an incredible way. Thanks to your generosity, we raised $12,597.38 - exceeding the $10,000 goal! The additional funds will help other pets facing similar emergencies at Options Veterinary Care.

Bear will be in the ICU for at least 3 days, which is standard following this type of surgery. His foster caregiver Stacey Wright has been by his side throughout this journey, and the team at Options Veterinary Care never gave up on this special cat.

This is what happens when a community comes together. Bear is getting his second chance at life because YOU cared enough to help. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared his story, and kept Bear in your thoughts.

We'll continue to follow Bear's recovery and keep you updated on his journey home to Reno.
