An overlook on Highway 49, east of Yuba Pass, provides a spectacular panoramic view of this beautiful sub-alpine valley where Sattley, Calpine, Sierravilleand Loyalton lie surrounded by the granitic mountains of the Sierra Nevada.

Sierra Valley is part of the continental crust that was dropped by the same fault that raised the Sierra Nevada.

The scenery in Sierra Valley varies from conifer and aspen forests, to drier woodland forests, to a large valley covered with crops, pastures, and wildflowers in the spring. Smaller valleys and meadows are laced with meandering streams. Old platy-barked ponderosa pine trees are a special feature in the landscape along the upper stretches of Highway 89 near Truckee. Cattle share the pastures with deer and other wildlife. If you’re lucky you might see a cattle drive.

Reasons why we need to travel

Squaw Valley is situated in Northern California, just Northwest of Lake Tahoe. It's more or less 42 miles from Reno, Nevada. Squaw Valley was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympic Games. It has rock climbing and ice skating facilities, aerial tram, beautiful slopes and trails to Squaw Peak.

During summer, guests can still enjoy the amenities offered at The Village at Squaw Valley. It offers shopping, dining, lodging, and other recreational activities such disc golf, aerial tram, and hiking all close to the slopes of Squaw Valley.

IGLESIA PARROQUIAL DE SANTA MONICA also known as Santa Monica Parish is located in the Municipality of Pan-ay, Province of Capiz. This baroque-inspired church was built in 1774 by Fr. Miguel Murgia. And it houses the largest Catholic Bell in Asia.
The bell is situated in the five-storey bellfry of the church. It measures 5 feet in height, weighs 10.4 tons and 7 feet in diameter. The gigantic bell was made out of seventy sacks of of coins donated by the townsfolk.
Beside the church is the PASEO DE EVANGELIZACION. This is the area where the people of Pan-ay were evangelized. They were the first people in Panay Island who were baptized by Fray Martin de Rada when he preached the Gospel of Christ in 1566. .

Some old flair in the busy streets of Penang. .

My first night in Penang was spent in spotting some local restos to satiate my gastronomic desires. And first on the list was Yeap Noodles located along 227 Lebuh ChuliaGeorge Town. This Cantonese Restaurant serves a huge range of handmade flavored noodles. You may choose from Seaweed, Spinach, Soy Sauce, Oat, Bamboo and Carrot to suit the different flavors of soup base. The noodles are made from flour and natural pure vegetable juices. So no worries about strong vegetable after-taste. And the most important thing is the price. It's very affordable and really suited to those who are into budget-travel.
