Upcoming MBTA Communities Meeting via the town of Reading - Our summer series of community meetings around MBTA Communities initially included an update on July 10th. Town staff have made the decision to further refine and provide additional context to the evolution of the concepts being drafted to reflect the feedback to date and from the June 12th community meeting. As such, the July 10th meeting has been cancelled and the agenda and content of that meeting will be rescheduled to the July 31st meeting date, which will be held at the Reading Public Library at 7pm. Local Pickleball Instructor Carlo Bacci Wins Gold at the Bay State Games Tournament. Reading resident and owner of the Dinking Zone, Carlo Bacci competed for the first time in the Bay State Games Pickleball Tournament in Westford over the weekend. Along with his partner Paul Cervone, they went undefeated to make it to the gold medal round. Carlo Bacci is a certified USA Pickleball coach and owner of the Dinking Zone in Woburn, MA which operates 3 outdoor courts, offers private and group lessons, court rentals, team building events and birthday parties. Law enforcement activities related to alcohol compliance may include compliance checks at restaurants and retail locations, reverse stings, party patrols and “shoulder tap” and “Cops in Shops” programs. Through a combination of these techniques, the Reading Police Department will be able to monitor, analyze and take legal action when appropriate on both minors who seek to circumvent the law and those people and businesses that enable them....

The Reading School Committee (SC) of Reading Public Schools (RPS) is meeting at 7pm on Thursday June 6, 2024 at Reading Memorial High School. Links to the agenda, packet, and to watch the meeting are at the end of this article. The packet is 131 pages long, with the bulk being the multiple presentations being given. Tonight’s meeting looks jam-packed again, with lots of presentations and updates on various programs and initiatives, as well as some votes including voting on superintendent performance review and salary increase, vote on allocation to special education reserve fund (SERV), vote on reorganizing the school committee (elect new chair etc.), and a vote to shift FY24 budget money from the regular day to the special education cost center....

The Town’s trash vendor Republic Services has informed that some homes won’t have their trash collected yesterday due to a broke-down truck. They will have an extra truck collecting this route on Thursday. Due to the holiday today Wednesday, June 19th, there will be a one day rubbish and recycling delay for all Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday collections.
