Some of what I've been doing while stuck at home. For someone who hates making belts, I seem to be making a lot of them. But at least I'm starting to get along with my sewing machine. We weren't doing so well when I was sewing up the wallets.

Back when Clay Miller was the first manager of the Tandy store in Rapid City, he talked me into teaching a class there. This was the first embossing class I ever taught. I have decided to share the lesson here for anyone that might be looking for something to do while they are stuck at home. The pattern for this was given to me by Kate Dubiel. I've been practicing on some bighorn sheep, trying to figure out how to tool the lip curl. I see a few things I'll change, but don't think they turned out too bad for the first attempts. These are from photos I took in Badlands National Park here in SD last fall.

This past weekend, I got to add another amazing piece of leather art to my collection. This is a portrait of Buffalo Bill Cody done by my friend, Annie Libertini. I am so proud to have this (along with a couple other things she has made for me) in my collection!

A really good article about leather artist Annie Libertini. I've had the pleasure of judging Annie's work at the World Leather Debut a couple of times, and instantly became a fan. Annie will be teaching a class in Rapid City on October 12-13 on a portrait of Buffalo Bill. More details on that to come soon. Let me know if you're interested in attending.
