Jury convicts Jones on all 10 counts
DAKOTA CITY – A jury has convicted a Laurel man of four counts of first-degree murder.
A jury spent 10 days listening to evidence and about seven hours in deliberation to reach the verdict of guilty on all 10 counts - the first-degree murder charges, four felony weapons charges, and two counts of arson in the second-degree. Prosecutors had originally charged Jones with first-degree arson but the jury convicted him of the lesser degree.
Jones’ case will continue to a hearing in which the jury will consider aggravators.
He faces a potential death penalty sentence in the murders of Gene Twiford, 86, Janet Twiford, 85, Dana Twiford, 55, and Michele Ebeling, 53, at their Laurel homes on Aug. 4, 2022.
