"You meet people where they are with you, or you will burn out." If you constantly expect people to be more available, understanding, or supportive than they are capable of, you’ll exhaust yourself emotionally. Instead, recognizing their limits and adjusting your expectations can prevent frustration and burnout.
For example, if a friend can only offer surface-level support, don’t drain yourself expecting deep emotional investment. Similarly, if a coworker isn’t as committed to a project as you are, adapt instead of overcompensating for their lack of effort.
This approach allows you to maintain your energy and emotional well-being while fostering healthier relationships.

United Yearbook’s staff recently got to take a trip to visit Homeboy Industries—a place that is all about second, third, fourth, endless chances. We got to meet Wellman. He went through the Homeboy program, and the trajectory of his life completely changed. Wellman spent 22 years in prison 😢and hadn’t finished high school🏫 by the end of it. He is now pursuing a bachelor’s degree 👩‍🏫🧑‍🏫 to change the lives of younger generations who are in the same seemingly hopeless position he experienced. He cannot imagine his life without the chance he was given and the education he is now receiving. United Yearbook is all about education 📖📚, which is why our goal is to enable students to be intentional in their own educational pursuits. Our hearts are with students and the teachers who make it possible for them to succeed 💯💯💯!
