Francine is about to make landfall on the Louisiana coast impacting initially marshland and then Morgan City and then New Orleans. The strongest wind gust so far offshore has been 112 mph. We'll follow this through the evening on WRAL.
Something is brewing in the Gulf of Mexico and I am watching to see if we will have an initial advisory on this system by 5 PM.

Our cold front is passing through the area with still just a few showers ahead of it. Overnight while we are sleeping, drier air will spread over the area and we will wake up to a different feel. Another taste of Fall!
The outflow boundary from the storms in the Triangle is expanding outwards so there is the potential this will kick off more storms this evening. Watch out for some strong to severe storms with the potential for localized flooding!
Looks like a little shower has developed over Durham. It's slowly shifting southward.

Monday AM Severe Thunderstorm Warning
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 7:15 a.m. for parts of Moore and Hoke Counties. This storm is moving east at 20 mph.
Showers and storms are moving through Wake and Durham counties right now. Expect brief, heavy downpours as they move by your location.

The heavier rain bands from Debby that have been in the southern counties is now showing signs of shifting northward. We can expect periods of heavier rain overnight and in the morning along with flooding.

Here's how the showers and storms have been forming this evening on radar. They are dumping some heavy rain along with frequent lightning. Rain chances dwindle by midnight.
A few showers and storms are moving across parts of the viewing area this afternoon. I expect more storms to move in from the northwest later this evening.
The line of showers and storms is steadily making it's way slowly south and east. The rain is heavy and localized flooding is likely in spots. The front will be to our south tomorrow and the focus of showers should be primarily in our southern counties.
Some of us have seen soaking rains this morning and more of us will see it through the afternoon and evening as this line of heavy showers and storms slides slowly south and east. Watch for localized flooding into the evening. Be safe!
