Two things: One, the people of Marshall, NC wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and send thanks to everyone for their help during their time of need from the devastation of Hurricane Helene.

Two....downtown Marshall businesses are planning to reopen the first week of April!! If you are able, there are GoFundMe pages that allow you to donate to a specific business or nonprofit to help them rebuild. Lots of people are looking for year end donation opportunities, so please consider these. More details are in the article.

A road trip to Marshall, NC to support reopening businesses would definitely help them in April! Keep in mind that by that time, their businesses will have been closed six months, so they need all the business we can manage to send their way. Marshall University alums and friends should consider wearing your Herd gear if you can make it out there so they know we still stand with them. 💚💚

Another opportunity to help Marshall, NC as they recover from the devastation of Hurricane Helene: purchasing books for 21st Century Packhorse Librarian to give away when they visit Marshall on January 4. Books can educate and entertain, and will bring people one step closer to "normal" during a time when their lives are anything but. Marshall University Southern Coalfields Alumni & Big Green Club visited Marshall, NC today to help a family there as part of the Marshall for Marshall initiative. Thank you for not forgetting them. They are going to need ongoing help for quite a while. 💚💚

Thank you to all the Herd fans who came to our backyard to watch our Marshall University Men's Soccer team in the national championship match. It didn't turn out the way we would have liked, but we are proud of this team!

And I think that Town of Cary, NC saw plenty of Marshall green everywhere they turned. 💚⚽️
