Victor Harris, publisher and editor of Minority Landowner Magazine, and Dr. Loren Henderson, an associate professor in the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, sit down with Zach Ducheneaux, the USDA Farm Service Agency Administrator. They discuss important topics including who is Farm Service Agency; an overview of their farm loan programs; the history of discrimination against Black and other minority farmers; the issue of farm foreclosures; initiatives under the Biden Administration to address discrimination; the experience and treatment farmers should expect when they walk into a Farm Service Agency office seeking assistance; farm stress and su***de prevention; and much more.

We had the opportunity to present a student scholarship check for $6,000 at North Carolina A&T State University's Small Farmer Appreciation Luncheon in March. This scholarship was launched to support students in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. Cierra Harris, executive assistant at Minority Landowner Magazine, is an NC A&T alumna and presented the award alongside publisher and editor Victor L. Harris. The check was presented to Dr. M. Ray McKinnie (left), the NC A&T associate dean and extension administrator in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.

Meet our newest person on the team: Rhema Meggett. She is our new Communications and Marketing intern. Rhema is a third-year student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Agriculture and Environmental Science Communication. She has minors in Agri-business Entrepreneurship through the Engler program and English. Meggett works with our social media pages as well as our new podcast.

Minority Landowner Magazine publisher Victor Harris got the opportunity to meet William Stanford Davis , a 1975 graduate of Lincoln University with a degree in mass communications. Davis plays school custodian Mr. Johnson on the hit ABC series Abbott Elementary. They met at a Hall of Fame banquet he attended supporting Drenda Williams, member of the Minority Landowner Magazine editorial board. The banquet honored the 2023 Lincoln University (Missouri) National Hall of Fame inductees, which included both Williams and Davis.

It's great to see added diversity in the USDA, especially in high positions. Congratulations to Xochitl Torres Small.

As we start out on this platform, we want to take the time to introduce ourselves and our staff here at Minority Landowner Magazine. Today we are highlighting the founder, publisher, and editor, Victor Harris. He is a graduate of Tuskeegee University and NC State University.

Harris has over 35 years of experience in forest management, agriculture, conservation and natural resources. He began publishing Minority Landowner Magazine in 2006. Minority landowner chronicles the challenges and successes of minority farmers, ranchers and forest landowners across the country.

Our mission is to help these producers improve productivity, increase profitability, and maintain ownership of their land. Running a farm is running a business. Minority Landowner tells the stories of farmers who share their challenges and successes that may inform and inspire other farmers who are experiencing similar situations within their operations.
