LSR-0006. It’s been a little over nine years since we released our first live album, LIVE IN RALEIGH, out into the world. Recorded on 12/3/11 at The Pour House Music Hall in front of a sold out hometown crowd, it serves as an extremely accurate snapshot of the band we were at that time. Young and loud. White hot and visceral. Rough around the edges in all of my favorite ways. Proclaiming ourselves the best band in town and being naive/drunk enough to believe it. You can hear all of that on this recording. It’s a sonic documentation of a band finding its sound, and in turn, it’s identity. A month later, we would use the money we made from this show to pay for the Burn.Flicker.Die studio time down in Muscle Shoals,AL. Over the years, this band has built our reputation on our live show. It’s what we have always done best and this was our first attempt to capture that magic to tape. We debuted most of the songs that would later become Burn.Flicker.Die that night and closed out the evening with what is, to this day, one of the best IHHBYH singalongs in AA history. Nine years later, I am still so extremely proud of what we captured that rainy night in Raleigh. So throw it on the stereo, tag a few friends and give it a spin for old time’s sake.

LSR0005. Our fourth studio album SMALL TOWN HYMNS will be turning 11 years old in May. We recorded this batch of songs down in Oxford,MS in the fall of 2009 with our buddy Tweed Recording and it is the only record I ever wrote while in the studio. (We lived at the studio for a month). All of the harmonies on this record were done by our buddies Cory Branan and Caitlin Cary. The cover photo is from the N.C. State Fair and was taken by Skillet Gilmore. (He also did all the artwork) I can’t believe it’s already been eleven years since since we cut songs like “Rattlesnake”, “Hurricane” and “Nothing To Lose”. LSR0004. It’s been twelve years since we released our third studio album, DANCES FOR THE LONELY, out into the wild. Produced by Chris Stamey and engineered by Mitch Easter, this is the album where I feel like the band finally started to find its sound, and in turn a wider, national audience. It traded a lot of the more country elements of the first two albums, for a bigger, fuller rock sound. We also had some amazing friends stop into the studio to sing on some songs. Shovels and Rope, Kenny Roby, Caitlin Cary and Brett Harris all lent their amazing voices to these songs and helped bring them to life. I truly feel like this record was where I first started writing the songs that would really resonate with our fanbase. We still play nine of the twelve songs at live shows today, which I believe only echoes my sentiment. Katherine Belle, Tennessee, Good Fight, I Hope He Breaks Your Heart, Betting Man, LBQ, Ain’t Going To The Bar Tonight...these songs have become staples of the live show over the years. Pick up one up for your collection, tag anyone you think might want/need this record and as always, thanks for supporting this batch of songs for the last twelve years!!! 🤝🐍

LSR0003. It’s crazy to think that it’s already been thirteen years since we released the Bones EP back in 2008. (Fun Fact: we released both “Bones” and “The Bible & The Bottle” on the same day) It was two years into the band’s career and I was writing songs like my life depended on it. We had just finished recording our sophomore album “The Bible & The Bottle” and in the two months between wrapping tracking and releasing the album, I had already written most of what would later become our third studio album, “Dances For The Lonely”. I was going through a heavy breakup and, at the time, I naively believed these songs were too important to sit on. No, they could NOT wait for the next album...they needed to be heard NOW. I was at the age where “release strategy” and “artistic exhaustion” were the last things on my mind. So we booked a day in the studio and started rehearsing for this stripped down session. We were young and inexperienced in those early years, but we had the power of blind optimism and youthful determination on our side. Our goal from inception was to put as much music out into the world, as fast as we could, and tour behind the growing catalogue incessantly. We recorded this EP live in the living room of our buddy Sean Roux’s house in Garner,NC. We only had four hours of studio time so we tracked the entire EP live, with all of the musicians sitting in the same room, playing together. This EP is raw. This EP is rough around the edges. Most importantly, this EP is real. It is one of the most organic recording sessions I have ever been a part of and I think you can hear that on the tape. Physical copies of this EP have been out of print since 2008, so these songs have really only existed in the digital realm since their release. I am happy to finally be giving this set of songs a proper release on vinyl and I hope you enjoy this batch as much as I still do, all of these years later. Thanks for always supporting the songs.🤝🐍
