Fitzroy Books: Once upon a time, not so long ago, an imprint was born...
Fitzroy Books began its life as an offshoot or imprint of Regal House Publishing, an innovative publishing company that empowers and supports writers in ways uncommon in the publishing industry today. While the focus of Regal House is on literary fiction, historical fiction, contemporary fiction, poetry, short story collections, and memoirs, the founders of Regal House Publishing wanted to offer the same accessibility and services of the parent press to writers of the Middle Grade, Young Adult and New Adult genres. And so Fitzroy was born.
(Oh, and a little postscript: Fitzroy is a patrynomic originating in the eleventh century Norman French. Fitz comes from the Latin filius (son) and precedes the genitive of the father’s forename. Roy is derived from the Old French word rei, meaning king. Therefore, Fitzroy means “king’s son,” and is thus the perfect name for the offspring of Regal House Publishing!)
