WRKR Racine

For many years, from the early 1970s through the late-1980s, they were WRKR, a rock-based Top 40 station targeting its city of license Racine, Kenosha and the southern part of Milwaukee County. The calls stood for W-Racine- Kenosha- Radio. Radio 100 WRKR. WRKR gradually started targeting the whole Milwaukee market. Due to heavy Top 40 competition, in March of 1987 WRKR changed to WHBT - Heart Beat 101 with a light R&B format. That lasted about 6 months. The WRKR calls were held on the AM for awhile and eventually given up. The WRKR call sign was reassigned by the FCC licensed to a station on 107.7 in Portage MI, where it remains today in 2021. The station targets Kalamazoo, MI. This page is not affiliated with them.
