Get ready to lace up your skates and hit the ice! Every winter, the Rideau Canal transforms into the world's largest skating rink. Skate any section of the 7.8 km (4.8 miles) from January to late February or March.

The universally accessible ramps and facilities make it perfect for skaters of all levels. Start or finish downtown and make your way to Dow's Lake. Don't forget to stop at one of the Beavertail stands for a delicious treat and hot chocolate. And for those 19+ Dunrobin Distilleries also offers some boozy beverages.

Non-skaters can also enjoy the scenery by walking or shuffling along the edges of the Skateway or on the pathways alongside the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
