This morning Bill and Evan discussed Pullman Building Supply's decision to close the store and the void it will leave in Pullman, not only for hardware and building supplies but also for equipment rentals and small engine service. Worth a listen: http://pullmanradio.com/wp-content/uploads/DJB_19-762.mp3

The Garretts invested a lot to bring that store to Pullman and its closure amounts to cutting their losses, a difficult business decision, if inescapable. I, for one, wish them well and thank them for trying to make a go of it here. Big loss for the Pullman community.

The Rush Limbaugh few knew...

Rush quietly and often anonymously gave much of his fortune to many worthy causes. He didn’t want that soft side of him to become public – he had an image to maintain.

Curiosity and humility: the secret of Sam Walton's success.

This article first appeared in the Archbridge Institute’s American Originals Series. The most important principles of retailing are quite simple: No American has better understood these ideas and put them into practice than Sam Walton and, even after his passing, his company, Walmart.  During the...

“I was born with this unlucky sneeze, And what is worse I came into the wrong way round.

Pundits all agree that I'm the reason why, My father fell into the village pond, And drowned.

"Talk radio’s emergence began in 1987, when President Reagan, a broadcaster in his youth, repealed 1949’s Fairness Doctrine. The move opened the airwaves to everybody; stations no longer had to program for government bureaucrats at the expense of the audience." (NY Sun)

Want to know the reason for talk radio's 35-year track record of success? It's the audience, pure and simple.

Rush Limbaugh didn't force anybody to listen to him. He provided information, entertainment, and an uncomplicated proud-to-be-an-American perspective that attracted listeners to him - by the tens of millions.

No coercion. No bribery. Nothing but the opportunity provided in the land of opportunity and talent (on loan from God).

If the right performs better at it, the left would be wise to ask why, and not blame the messengers for losses at the ballot box.

Why do people remember radio ads?
For the same reason we remember music.

Psychologists say it's no surprise that we have such a strong memory for music and can easily recall lyrics and melodies, even if we haven’t heard them in years.
