Billionaires like Ken Griffin think they shouldn’t have to pay their fair share of taxes. They think they’re entitled to keep billions while our schools, roads and infrastructure fall apart. Now he’s offended because we’ve learned more about how much he makes and how much tax he’s paid. He spent millions to convince the average citizen that if there was a state income tax hike on high earners, it would raise taxes on people earning less than $100,000. He got what he paid for and voters turned down the amendment.

“Griffin spent $54 million fighting a proposed graduated state income tax plan that Illinois voters rejected in 2020. The amendment would have altered state income tax to substantially hike fees on Illinois’ wealthiest taxpayers. ProPublica reported in July that Griffin saved $51 million per year based on his past income because the amendment did not pass. Griffin is a top Republican donor,having spent $50 million on candidates in Illinois’ Republican primary this year.”

Ken Griffin, who founded the hedge fund Citadel, demanded a jury trial in his lawsuit against the IRS after a leak this spring of his tax returns.
