Residents of District #2 Montsrrrado county Criticize Lawmaker Over Religious Discrimination, Christian celebrates Christmas
Monrovia, Liberia – Residents of District #2 in Montserrado County have voiced strong disappointment with their representative, Hon. Sekou S. Kanneh, accusing him of neglecting the Christian community during the festive season.
The criticism comes from an advocacy group known as the Frontliners of District #2, which described Kanneh’s donation of ten bags of rice to a disabled community of more than 300 people during Christmas as “insensitive and selfish.”
According to the group, evidence shows that the lawmaker, who is a Muslim, has consistently provided significant support to Islamic celebrations such as Ramadan and Abraham Day, often distributing truckloads of rice to mosques across the district. In contrast, they allege that Kanneh distances himself from Christian festivities, reportedly stating that he does not believe in Christmas and considers the celebration taboo.
The situation has sparked public outcry among Christian residents, who accuse their representative of being divisive and discriminatory. Many say they feel marginalized by a leader they believe should be working to unite, rather than separate, the people he serves.
Community members are now calling for greater inclusivity and fairness from their elected official, stressing that leadership should transcend religious and tribal lines in order to foster unity in the district.
Meanwhile some residents of Red Hill community, district two montsrrrado county had expressed forstration over what they describe religious discrimination by their lawmaker Rep Kannah, stressing that he doesn't identify with the christian during any of their celebration but instead identify with the Muslim because of his region, they called on Rep. Kannah to put aside religion and work in the interest of the district.
