Dear readers,

The Jan. 9 national day of mourning for former President Jimmy Carter is creating an unexpected challenge for many of our papers. The U.S. Postal Service is observing the day and will not be operational, which means some papers may not show up for readers on the same schedule.

While our print and layout schedules aren’t changed, the post office closure today will mean papers could arrive at your home or in your mailbox one or two days later than normal.

We know the disruption isn’t what you want, especially in light of how chaotic the holidays can be, but we thank you in advance for your understanding as we all remember the dedicated service of President Carter.
