New AI technology has made it possible and efficeint to translate these videos in mulitple languages! The Bible verses will have to be edited and translated, which is also possible. Attached you will see an example. Yes, I agree it's funny to hear myself speaking French 🙂

Here is the follow-up to the conversation with the person who is "spiritual but not religious" that some of you were asking about.

A few disclaimers:
*People that have this mindset rarely change their mind - especially in a brief conversation like this.
*My goal was to respectfully challenge this person, giving them a new perspective to consider - not necessarily change their mind right away.
*This was the method I chose to use, seeing that I just met this person and would likely not talk with them again. A slower "get to know you" method is likely more effective in a longer-term relationship.
*I don't claim to have all the answers when it comes to witnessing, but I'm glad God can still use people who are growing!

Feel free to share other thoughts or ideas that may be helpful in a conversation like this! Just realize that every discussion is unique and there is not necessarily a "cookie-cutter" approach. But we must always be loving and respectful, and led by the Holy Spirit.

So, here is the continuation of the discussion:

Person X:
I never think anyone's belief system is right or wrong. Nor do I like to believe one is better over the other. that's why I say I'm open minded. I have many Muslim friends and find some saying they say for good luck or for best fortune towards others and circumstances to be very comforting. but even praying I would find comforting at times. But that one thing you said really triggered me and it was justifying if one is better then the other. and I'm completely against that as I think we should accept all walks of life into our hearts no matter s*x, race,religion, or even who they choose to love. So to say one is better then the other is worrisome for me. And thats what I don't like. I've been like that since I was very little.

I even had a class at my friends church that I would go to every Wednesday and we had one lesson where we were to write a list of 10 things that were important to us and ranked 1-10 to 1 being
the most important and 10 being least. and I had put my mom. dad. sibling, pets, grandparents, friends, school, and then my phone and material things at the end. I was then told to crumble it up and that the only thing that is import is God himself and nothing on that list should compare. and since then I refused to go back. I was so appalled by that. I couldn't believe it was okay to teach kids that their family isn't important. That those we hold dearest are not to hold any rank and that we are to only love God that he is all that matters. It made me so sad because I knew that wasn't his message. But that's what they were teaching. So I really hadn't gone back there. Occasionally I would go to my nanas church in Tennessee or to a friend's mass for Christmas in naples. But I never whent back to that Baptist church.

I believe in loving my family and strangers and treating everyone with kindness and love as they are my family. However I understand this is your belief and career as well so I completely respect your beliefs and in what you value.

I agree with you that this was not a good lesson - the paper crumbling activity. I hope you will agree that you shouldn't label religion as being that way. Rather, that was a bad example of religion. You're right! God's message is to love others,
including our family.

However, and perhaps I did not make this as clear as I could have earlier, I would say that this is anything but open-minded. (I realize that might trigger you as well). To refuse to consider the possibility that one belief system could be right and the others are wrong is very close-minded.

To refuse to carefully and honestly consider the evidence that one belief system could contain the solution to saving others and giving them eternal life is not only close-minded but very dangerous for yourself and others.

I respect you. and respect your beliefs but I will have to kindly say that I don't agree with your statement. I genuinely don't want any ill feelings towards either party. but for me I would have to disagree with that statement. You are able to have that opinion. but I simply don't agree nor believe it's right. But that doesn't mean I don't respect you or who you are as a person.

Thank you :) I appreciate your kindness. Do you think just because you disagree or don't think it is right makes you correct? (*Editors note: I think I should have left that last sentence out :/) Can you be confident that you are correct without first honestly and carefully examining the evidence? With your eternal life and the eternal life of others at stake, would it be wise to not carefully consider the evidence? And I say this with all love and respect - I wouldn't want you to be the one that doesn't choose the fireman.

*This person seems to still be open to talking and has offered to be friends going forward.*

I usually don't make posts like this, but I thought I would share a recent conversation I had with someone who is "spiritual but not religious":

Person X: "I'm not exactly religious. I am more spiritual. I believe and respect multiple religions and their values.."

Me: "Ahh ok - that's interesting. Are you open minded and willing to learn something else, or are you pretty closed in your current beliefs of just being spiritual?"

Person X: "I am always opened minded about it all that is why I'm strongly more spiritual as I hold true to believing all and respecting them all too. idk I just accept everyone and am not the kind of person that believe in being placed inside a specific category.. although I super categories my office and work space 🤣I would always go to church with my friends if they ever invited me but I'm not one to get converted. I just do my best to love and support everyone."

Me: ":) I see. I'm gonna challenge you a little - if you can handle it ;) Are you open-minded to the idea that one "category" (or belief system) could be right, and the others wrong?

After all, your current belief system, which sounds like "all sincere, positive beliefs are equally good and will lead to some form of peace or bliss in the afterlife" (please correct me if I've mislabeled your understanding), is a very bold assertion, and one that directly defies the teachings of the best selling book of all time (the Bible), the largest religions in the world, and even Jesus himself.

My only point in bringing this up is to point out that:

A) you currently hold a very bold belief system that directly opposes the largest religions in the world. It it does in fact put you into a very specific category.

B) To ask if you are open-minded enough to consider evidence that your current belief system could be wrong, and another could be right.
Forgive me if I'm ranting :) I feel impressed to take the time and discuss these things with you, if you are open that is :)

The following analogy comes to mind. Imagine that you were stuck inside a burning building with 10 people. You are the leader of the group and it is your decision to select one of them to help the group survive. The group is composed of various professions - a doctor, a teacher, a lawyer, a fast-food worker, etc. One of the 10 is a firefighter - he has the knowledge, the tools, and the solution to save the group. Who would you select to help the group survive? Would you avoid selecting the fireman because you don't want to offend the rest of the people and reject their ideas? After all, you would be placing yourself in the category of believing that the firemen had the solution, and not the others. The others may accuse you of converting to the fireman's belief system, and it might offend them since you did not choose them to save the group.

I think you see where I'm going with this :)

One last thought for now. You mentioned "I do my best to love and support everyone". This is admirable, and I do believe that we should love and respect everyone. In the above scenario, if you chose the fireman and his belief system, would you not be loving and supporting everyone? If you refrained from choosing the fireman, would you be loving and supporting everyone, or hurting them?

When it comes to the spiritual world, is it within the realm of possibility that one belief system could be the fireman? In other words, it could be the solution, while the others are not?

If this possibility is in fact true, and we neglect to put ourselves in this or any category, are we not harming ourselves, as well as many others?

Of course, you are under no obligation to respond or interact with these thoughts. But I would be very impressed and happy if you did. I hope you'll at the very least consider them :)"
