The Town of Poughkeepsie Town Hall Town Board has recently greenlit the implementation of a community solar program, to benefit an estimated 7,000 households within the town. This initiative aims to increase access to solar energy, offering savings of up to 20% on electricity bills. The two solar projects connecting to the program are located in Esopus and Milan, New York.

The project is in conjunction with Power Market and Mid-Hudson Energy Transition.

In a resolute stance against Central Hudson's proposed electric and gas delivery rate hikes, the Town of Poughkeepsie Town Board unanimously voted to pass a resolution to reject the increases. The proposed hikes, which would have seen an estimated surge of 31.9% in electric delivery rates and 29.2% or 19% increase on the total gas bill, met firm opposition from local officials.
