Withholding maneuvers are common amongst children especially, toddlers. In an effort to delay the need to p**p or p*e, children will demonstrate obvious (but also less obvious) positions! This can lead to withholding in children and is one of the most challenging behaviors I work with! A few quick tips: 1) encourage the child to go use the toilet. This may sound like a “duh” tip but for some children, they are still learning their p*e and p**p sensations and this may be the only intervention you need to be successful! 2) if the child refuses tip #1 offer a reward (that they like) if they go sit on the toilet for a few minutes (set a timer). Remember, the reward is for sitting on the toilet, not p*eing or p**ping! This may be all the intervention they need to be successful! Want more information? Check out my link in the comments for my upcoming “pediatric bladder and bowel dysfunction” course where I go into more of this! Sorry parents, this song has been on repeat with my girls! Such a catchy tune😂
Did you know I have a Pediatric Bladder and Bowel Course that I’ve created for @drsarahduvall and it’s launching cyber Monday? It’s on sale for the launch so click the link in my bio for more information and free videos! Back my to my reel! Parents…when your kids p**p do they ever clog the toilet? The p**p is the size of a soup can, softball or maybe a football! THE question I will ask any parent/guardian and child is this exact question! “Do you ever plug the toilet when you p**p?” This is called a mega re**um and one of the causes is constipation😱. I know what you’re thinking…”how is my child constipated when their p**p is this big?” I will dig deeper into this in my course but for now I will leave you with this…When the re**um (end of the p**p tube) is stretched out (because it’s filled with p**p), we all get an urge to p**p. If this urge is ignored enough or maybe a child doesn’t recognize the signal, p**p will be stored in the re**um. The child continues to eat and p**p continues to pile up. Then the p**p has nowhere to go but out and you might have a child p**ping their pants or having a hard time cleaning their bottom because it continues to seep or finally they feel the urge and when they p**p (several days, maybe weeks) the p**p is massive! I’ve had several parents and even adults with this problem who tell me they have to cut the p**p up or put gloves on and break the p**p up to get it to flush. Today at the gym, I was talking with a nurse who works in the hospital about mega re**um and he said one of his patients p**ped a “football-sized p**p” into the toilet and they had to fill the bowl with water and let it sort of dissolve. If you’ve worked in the hospital you know their toilets are so powerful, if you stand too close you’re likely to lose your pants!
Butt clencher, butt pain, butt soreness, sitting all day, pain when you p**p??? Grab your butt flesh and don’t let go! Now move all around and feel the restrictions! Have a great day! #glutegripper #buttclencher #myofascialrelease #physicaltherapy #pelvichealth #womenshealth #menshealth #sciatica #pelvicfloor #buttpain
Oh Hey! Two posts in two days!
Can you tell I do my own posting and nothing is pretty and nothing is scheduled!
If I have something to post, I post it! If I don’t, I don’t! 🤣

Are you going to put up your Christmas tree and Christmas decorations before thanksgiving??? Comment below! 👇
Surface EMG Biofeedback!
I was allowed to video one of my clients yesterday as she used surface EMG biofeedback!
I placed electrodes on my client as shown on my model. I also have vaginal and re**al probes that can be used as well!
Surface EMG biofeedback measures electrical events and not muscle contractions directly. This means it does not measure how strong the muscles are but it’s very useful to work on timing, quality, coordination and control of a pelvic floor muscle contraction and relaxation.
Having visual and auditory feedback is very helpful for some of my adult clients and absolutely necessary for my pediatric clients!
I can place my clients in different positions like laying, sitting and then standing. We can work on getting the pelvic floor to be more responsive to a cough, sneeze and laughing event. We can work on endurance while a client works on impact like bouncing or jumping or we can work on quieting and relaxing the pelvic floor muscles!
I don’t use this on everyone but I find it can be a great tool in my ever growing tool box!
Opening a closing a flower is one of many programs I can utilize! Children seem to like getting a dolphin to jump out of the water🤣
My plan is to post more videos on treatment techniques I utilize. If there is something specific you want to see let me know!

Are you pregnant and find moving in bed is painful in your crotch?
Sometimes a simple, “exhale when you move” can be a game changer!
Give it a try and if that doesn’t take away all the pain, I’ve got a great inguinal mobilization I can do on the round ligament and associated nerves that will do the trick! 👌
Reach out and book your appointment today!
I love rolling out my muscles with a foam roller! To me, it feels better than stretching and I only need 30 seconds to get short term benefits before a big lift💪
I would like to give you a great tip as shown by my “baby!” To roll out your quads, hamstrings and calves, how about using a rolling pin!? They are cheap (I can buy them at the dollar store) And you can find them in all sorts of lengths! If you buy a hand held “muscle roller” you will pay upwards of $30!
That’s it, have a fantastic Monday!
Haven’t been to @thepilatesptco since January 😱 Glad to have gotten our schedules to sync!!!!
Open workout 21.1 done!
The dreaded double under! Did anyone else cringe a little???
Ok don’t knock this double under strategy until you try it. I was able to string upwards of 30 together using this strategy. I did over 130 double unders alternating between the “normal” way and this new and different way! Pelvic floor felt awesome. No leaks, no pressure, no problem!
Do you have a “funky” foot placement that helps pelvic floor during double unders??? I’ve seen some ladies stagger their feet or squat more etc!
Who completed the open???🙋🏻♀️
Working that strict press!
Tips that I use to manage pressure on my pelvic floor and diastasis...
1) exhale when you press the bar overhead.
2) give yourself a double chin (keep the bar path close to your face-physics yo)
3) reach for the ceiling with the crown of your head (grow tall through your spine when you push and exhale).
4) gently (emphasis on the “gentle”) think about pulling your p***c bone towards your belly button.
5) as you push the bar overhead, think about gently bringing your ribcage down towards your belly button.
6) inhale and open up the back of your ribcage-time with lowering the bar.
***if my bar weighed more than the 35 lbs, I’d have to use a different breathing strategy so play around with breathe!***
If you’re not sure what I’m talking about and have leakage (p*e, p**p, gas, heaviness) with overhead lifting or maybe overhead squatting, reach out! I’d be happy to coach you virtual or in-person!
