Many locals came together here to honor Carter and his dedication to Habitats around the globe.

One local, Paul Beach shared his poem he wrote for the 39th President of the United States.

We started at the bottom of the mountain. Today we reached the peak! ❤️

Seven years ago, Kaydenz Kitchen started in an extra bedroom in our home, inspired by our daughter's hope of helping others. Over three years ago, a local shelter group was formed with some amazing individuals already doing the work in the community and shared the same passion/belief that we can do better.

Today, our shelter team was awarded $2.5 million in funding from Maine Housing to open a 24/7 homeless shelter in Lewiston. For the past several years, our executive shelter team has spent hundreds of hours working towards a 24/7 permanent shelter solution.

Androscoggin County's first 24/7 Low-Barrier Shelter!

This facility will provide full wrap-around services, coordinated entry assessments, housing navigation, connection to service providers, and the shelter guests won't be required to leave during the day.

Our goal is to have the new 24/7 Shelter open by 9/1/25.

With our Emergency Warming Center program this year and a new 24/7 shelter before next winter, our most vulnerable members of the community will hopefully have spent their last winter sleeping outside.

Today is a blessing, an opportunity to create change in our community and a responsibility our team doesn't hold lightly. We are ready to shine!! ❤️

Thank you all for your continued support through the highs, lows, and everything in between! The support we receive from the community fuels our fire and we look forward to the new opportunities ahead!

Maine Forest service has rated the fire danger at very high and high throughout Maine.
This isn’t the only issue that firefighters are dealing with.
Many towns use Dry hydrants- which pull water out of natural sources to fight fires. But with the lack of rain comes lack of these resources.
Find out more tonight on channel 13.
