About the Book:
DESERTED BY HER PERFECT HUSBAND. Divorced twice. Widowed twice. Declared bankruptcy. Single mother of two young boys. No college education, savings, or job. Sound like the recipe for financial success?
Men, Money & Gypsy Blood is a coming-of-age story expressed as only a West Texas girl can tell it. A 1960s teen, Sharron Ann Sibley wanted nothing more than to find a gorgeous husband and have a home with happy children playing in the backyard. She expected to be a perfect wife with a loving husband, who could and would support her financially. Her dream came crashing down when she was only twenty-seven.
Sharron Ann survived by working demeaning jobs-putting up with b***y comments, "f***y pats," and sexual advances. But her ability to see beyond the present led her on a path of self-discovery to prosper on her own against life's adversities and broken dreams. She not only excelled but thrived, becoming one of the first women in Texas to own her own stock brokerage firm. She found financial security along her thirty-year path. This is a true story of what determination and gypsy blood can do!

Happy from Inkwater Press!

This week we are featuring recently published author, Carolyn Kelley Williams and her poetry book, 'Inexhaustible Offering.'

In 'Inexhaustible Offering: Lincoln Park Mornings', Chicago poet Carolyn Kelley Williams uses the language of the heart to share her experience of Chicago’s most beloved natural wonder. In 1909, architect Daniel Burnham, inspired by both the nineteenth-century City Beautiful movement and Chicago’s slogan Urbs in Horto (“City in a Garden”), created one of the most renowned and revered urban park systems in the world. Williams, drawn like millions of others by the wisdom and beauty of the natural world, delights in this lush strip of waterfront parkland in poems that take the reader through the changing seasons with the celebrants of daybreak: joggers, dog walkers, lovers, fishermen, rowers in skiffs. She beautifully evokes Lincoln Park’s gardens, lagoons, and paths; its wild and thrilling storms; its misty dawns and dazzling sunrises; and the eternally changing moods of Lake Michigan.

About the book:

Danny Sheppard, a prodigious 22-year-old fighter, is on the cusp of becoming the youngest title-holder in UFC history. Having lost his twin brother three years prior in a car accident, Danny had become a shell of a man, knowing that a left when it should have been a right or a yes when it so easily could have been a no, would have changed everything.

Since then life had become unrecognizable. Of course his brother's death had been the worst of it, but it was only the beginning--the spark that lit a fuse, propelling Danny down a new path with a brand new cast of characters: from NCAA wrestling champion to mixed martial arts phenomenon in no time at all.

While he desperately hopes that winning the title will release him from his past, he realized that it might not be the answer, and that his most difficult opponent might be himself.

Congratulations to Inkwater author Kesha Fisher for winning the Ken Kesey Award for Fiction in the 2020 Oregon Book Awards!

No God Like the Mother by Kesha Fisher is a tribute to those who have experienced the brutality of breathing through the agony of losing a child. It sheds light on the unknown and the not knowing. It wraps warmth around the loneliness of being surrounded only by one’s thoughts. It is carrying the torch for someone who can no longer do so. It is the discovery that another suffers as you do. It is healing. It is the break from difficulty. It is the feeling of elation when another loves you too. It is the friends. It is the exhaustion that leaves ones breath when the word Mama is heard, and knowing that still, she must go on. It is freedom even if hope is all that sits on the other side.
