University of Portland's Creative Work Magazine Writers Magazine is an annual publication of student work at the University of Portland.

It is a chance for students to be published and share their photography, artwork, creative writing, and more! Original Written Works:
Short stories, personal essays, poetry, one act plays, etc.
[Word limit: 2,000 words]

Original Visual Works:
Photography, illustration, painting, sculpture, comic, etc.
[Color or B&W; .jpeg; 300+ dpi]

Up to 3 submissions per student per category (written/visual). Please email any questions/submissions to [email protected]

📣 THEME ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 Submissions for the Fall 2024 edition of Res Publica are NOW OPEN!

This edition of Res Publica invites artists and writers to explore and express their perspectives on public matters, social justice, and political activism.

We believe in the power of art and literature to foster cultural and civic engagement. As the U.S. general election approaches, we are reminded of the importance of active engagement in the democratic process. Our republic is shaped by a balance of individual voices and collective representation, a principle that guides our society and governance. Writers Mag Fall ’24: Res Publica intends to reflect this spirit of public participation and open discourse, essential for a vibrant and equitable community.

Submissions CLOSE midnight on Halloween (10/31/24).
