Our Story
Jerry Joseph, with the help of a few friends, founded Cosmo S*x School Records in 2004, mainly as an outlet to release his own records and merchandise. People called him crazy (for a variety of reasons), but shortly thereafter, many artists began self-releasing their own music, and the practice became all the rage. Jerry once again found himself on the cutting edge of the music industry. With the business and financial acumen inherent in most artists, Jerry managed to keep Cosmo afloat with the dedicated assistance of a group of highly compensated executives, including Adam Ruback, Denny Swofford, Michael Lewis, Dave Dannheiser and Joe Kempler.
They said the advent of streaming services was going to destroy the big record labels, but after nearly 20 years, Cosmo is still going okay…and still waiting for its first hit record. Of course, like most refined music listeners, the folks at Cosmo prefer genius to mediocrity. So as long as Jerry keeps churning out quality records on a nearly annual basis, you can expect Cosmo to keep releasing some of the finest songs you probably won’t hear on the radio…and some of the coolest merch you won’t find on Amazon.
None of this would be possible without you, dear listener, so we at Cosmo thank you from the bottom of our nearly empty pockets. And we implore you to buy Jerry’s latest record and single. In fact, make sure you own the entire available catalog, so then we can re-release the titles you’ve been waiting for. And while you’re at it, make sure your cart includes the cool t-shirt and tote bag and trucker hat and notebook and sticker and poster and water bottle and coffee mug and bobble-head and bandana…and whatever other cool stuff we can think of. At Cosmo, our love for you is Mile High, Mile Deep!
