My name is Natalie Mayhew and I am the creative director & founder of Fern & Maple. I love to craft, to DIY and to create parties for both adults and children – or as I like to put it, “for bigs and littles alike.”

I was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and although I have ventured far from my Kiwi roots, I remain inspired by childhood memories of "acting" as an event stylist for my mom’s get-to

gethers and hours spent rummaging through antique sales and up-cycling found objects with my dad. My blog includes party ideas, tips, tricks and crafts I enjoy trying out and hope you will too. Backyard - BEFORE & AFTER 🪴⛲️🪴 Swipe through the before & after shots of the backyard. AFTER ➡️BEFORE ➡️AFTER ➡️BEFORE ➡️AFTER, AFTER & AFTER shots!
 The backyard was basically a concrete slab with wire fence! 🪴⛲️🪴 We dug it all out and created a flow with functioning sections for outdoor living;

Fresco eating, comfortable lounging patio, grilling, firepit and a grass area. Plus new fencing, trees and plants! Not in the images, potting area and gardening beds..it’s one of my favorite summer spaces now and I’ll miss it! QUESTIONS WELCOME!

Primary Bathroom - BEFORE & AFTER

You asked! Here are the before & after shots of the bathroom. Swipe for before and more after images!
I didn’t do the best before shots (I’ve put a video in my stories) but overview……🛁the primary used to have a Jack & Jill door to our son’s room. Then 2 more doors, one to a shower and the other to an old 90’s sauna. Very closed in!
It also had green tiled counters for a single basin and a mirror wall!

We gutted the entire bathroom; closed up the pass through door, tiled the walls with a vertical tile & herringbone accent wall, switched to a natural wood cabinet with quartz counters & a double sink. A luxe bath replaced the sauna, a deep shower with glass paneled wall and black matte fittings throughout.

We are selling our house! 🏡
The last few weeks I’ve been posting a little less often here cause I’ve been busy decluttering, finishing up outstanding jobs and styling our house to get ready for SALE! 🏷️

Come take a seat at my holiday table! I found the most beautiful holly & pine-wired ribbon and then the hunt was on! Look at all the beautiful red, green & holly-themed décor I found to complete the look! My favorites?….I love how cute are the water glasses look, as well as the little gift candles on each plate.

I found the perfect tree & ornaments to pair with this theme. I also found a beautiful wreath & centerpiece, and I switched out the ribbon to complete the look!

truly is the home of the hunt and has something for everyone! No matter your color scheme or decor style they have something for you!

We are ready to start decorating our Christmas Tree for Santa to arrive! Parker and I have teamed up with to share our annual tradition of ornament making. Let’s set up a Witch Themed Entry Way table! 🧙🏻‍♀️🐈‍⬛ I used pages of spells, potions and ingredients hanging from a broom, to create a table that has everything a witch needs to make magic! It’s my Christmas Era! Kicking it off with a Christmas wish for the Swifties! ❤️I had to try out this new trend as soon as I saw it! I made this oversized Taylor Swift inspired friendship bracelet as a party garland, doesn’t it look great with a fringe garland! AND how cute would it be as room décor with your swifties name?! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I used ball pit balls and stars for the beads, I’ve seen pool noodle slices & Christmas ornaments used too. ⭐️Then I used the 2-packs of @dollartree foam circles for the letter beads, super affordable! You can use fatter & smaller 3” foam circles as an alternative. ⭐️Then pick the letter sticker color of your choice, classic black or holiday ready glittery silver like this.⭐️I prepped my holes using a heated foam cutter first before threading all the “beads” onto fishing line using a large embroidery needle. ⭐️⭐️⭐️Thanks @hipsterartteacher for the inspiration! My name is Natalie Mayhew and I am the creative director & founder of Fern & Maple. I was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and although I have ventured far from my Kiwi roots, I remain inspired by childhood memories of "acting" as an event stylist for my mom’s get-togethers and hours spent rummaging through antique sales and up-cycling found objects with my dad.

I now live in Portland, Oregon with my ❤️’s 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🐶🍾
