My name is Natalie Mayhew and I am the creative director & founder of Fern & Maple. I love to craft, to DIY and to create parties for both adults and children – or as I like to put it, “for bigs and littles alike.”

I was born in Wellington, New Zealand, and although I have ventured far from my Kiwi roots, I remain inspired by childhood memories of "acting" as an event stylist for my mom’s get-to

gethers and hours spent rummaging through antique sales and up-cycling found objects with my dad. My blog includes party ideas, tips, tricks and crafts I enjoy trying out and hope you will too. I live in Portland with my (ever tolerant of my hoarding!) husband, David, my two gorgeous and crazy children, Harrison and Parker, and our chocolate lab, Elsa.

It has been a rough week with her in sick in hospital but we finally got her home today, she’s well enough for us to care for her.
Thank you all so much for the lovely messages, good vibes and prayers. I truly appreciated them. I was very stressed & worried and they helped.

Valentines Day Party Ideas - ❤️❤️Will you be my Valen-slime?!

👩‍🔬 Welcome to the slime lab! We love goo and goo and goo! 🧪 I set this one up like a slime laboratory and gave the kids all sorts of slime add-ins to experiment with - textures, colors & scents. makes this even easier!
Tips for hosts:
🦠 host in a kitchen or easy to clean location
👩‍🔬 alternatively plastic drop cloths or tablecloths are your friend
🦠 send a DIY valen-slime gift basket, supplies and labels over on the blog. Check with recipients caregivers first! 🤣

Halloween with a Summer Twist! Outdoor camping for UFO Hunters! 🛸👽

 The kitchen was the largest and most satisfying renovation! Loved designing every detail! Bye bye black & white tile countertops! Not the best before shots but I was in “out with the old” mode! 😂 🏡🏚️

 The backyard was basically a concrete slab with wire fence! 🪴⛲️🪴 We dug it all out and created a flow with functioning sections for outdoor living;

Fresco eating, comfortable lounging patio, grilling, firepit and a grass area. Plus new fencing, trees and plants! Not in the images, potting area and gardening beds..it’s one of my favorite summer spaces now and I’ll miss it! QUESTIONS WELCOME!

Let’s set up a Witch Themed Entry Way table! 🧙🏻‍♀️🐈‍⬛ I used pages of spells, potions and ingredients hanging from a broom, to create a table that has everything a witch needs to make magic!
