IT’S SHOWTIME // Oregon Symphony launched their October performances this weekend with their Brahms 2: Moments in Light and Darkness program that dreams of bucolic landscapes where sunlit serenity and ominous storm clouds share the sky.
Later in the month, The Sound of Space— an out-of-this-world concert with a futuristic spin—brings together some of the best sci-fi music ever written for contemporary film.

After 15 years in exile on a trumped up conviction, Sweeney Todd returns to the grit and grime of Victorian London, bent on reclaiming his life and exacting bloody retribution. IT'S SHOWTIME // The Oregon Symphony kicks off their season with the thundering power of Strauss’ Alpine Symphony. Prepare to be mesmerized as Strauss conjures a mountain hike through music.
In the same program, enjoy as pianist Garrick Ohlsson plays Chopin’s moving Piano Concerto No. 1. Then, their highly-anticipated Popcorn series begins with John Williams’ iconic Close Encounters of the Third Kind score performed by the Oregon Symphony orchestra as the film plays on the big screen.

Today, our team, the A-Team, boasts 17 arts devotees whose sole mission is to create innovative and genius tactics to promote performing arts in Portland. Whether in line for coffee, on the treadmill at the gym, stuck in traffic, or seated in an audience, we are always generating unique ideas.
