Mysterious companion. Previously, the Earth had a twin - a planet called Theia. Its dimensions were approximately equal to the size of Mars. But Theia crashed into the Earth. Most of the planet was absorbed by the Earth, and the remaining part flew away and got stuck in orbit, thus creating our Earth's satellite - the mysterious and magical Moon.

Sky sailors. Astronaut is a compound word formed from two ancient Greek words “astro”, meaning “star” and “naut(es)” - sailor, swimmer. So literally an astronaut is a star sailor. Or rather, a star swimmer. How is he different from an astronaut? Cosmos in Greek is an ordered world, the Universe. So the astronaut is the sailor of the Universe. By the way, the word “astronaut” appeared much earlier, and old explanatory dictionaries, when interpreting the word “cosmonaut,” refer to “astronaut.”

Space prices. A space suit costs between 11 and 15 million dollars - not cheap. The price may be higher, it all depends on individual programs and goals.

By the way, the first space suit SK-1 appeared in the USSR and was used in 1961-1963 for the first flights on Vostok spacecraft.

A giraffe only needs 1.9 hours of sleep per day, while a brown bat needs 19.9 hours per day. 4. People sleep 1/3 of their lives. Obviously this depends on the person's age, but on average it's about a third, which is quite a lot if you think about it. 5. The longest period without sleep is 11 days. This was discovered by a California student named Randy Gardner in 1964. Don't try this at home. 6. It is not uncommon for deaf people to use sign language in their sleep. There are many cases where people have reported their deaf partners or children using sign language in their sleep. 7. Dysania is a condition where it is difficult to get out of bed in the morning. We all undoubtedly want to sleep longer from time to time, but those who suffer from dysania find this especially difficult. This is most likely a form of chronic fatigue syndrome. 8. Parasomnia is a term that refers to unnatural movements during sleep. Some people have even committed crimes due to parasomnia, including sleep driving and even murder. 9. It is believed that up to 15% of the population are sleepwalkers. There is an opinion that you should not wake someone who is sleepwalking, but this is nothing more than a myth. 10. Every fourth married couple sleeps in separate beds. 11. Sleep deprivation kills faster than food deprivation. 12. Those who are born blind experience dreams associated with things such as emotion, sound, smell, rather than sight.

The original flag of the United States of America, formed by 13 colonies, had 13 stars and 13 stripes. When Vermont and Kentucky were admitted to the union, the number of stars and stripes was increased, respectively, to 15. Then, for some time, the addition of states was not reflected in the appearance of the flag - most likely because further reduction in the thickness of each stripe created an unpleasant flickering effect. As a result, they decided that the current number of states would be symbolized only by stars, and the number of stripes was returned to the original 13 as a sign of respect to the founders.
