(Matt) Sarah and I Took the kids to see last night at Moda Theater of the Clouds in Portland!

The place was packed and buzzing—even on a Tuesday.

After a solid set from the opening DJ , we were all hoping Sofi Tukker would hit the stage.

But then, out comes the legendary Dutch House duo, ! I turned to the kids and said, “Get ready for a treat!”

Shout out to Shermanology for bringing the heat with their set—tight, soulful, and all-out captivating. Andy and Dorothy’s connection on stage was magnetic, and the crowd was fully in it. He DJ’d while she sang live. What a VOICE! The kids were inspired, and I have to say, there’s nothing like experiencing real House music live.

Sofi Tukker put on a fantastic show too—sharp vocals, fun dancers, and a big, bold EDM-meets-House vibe. The whole place was bouncing, especially when they dropped “Throw That Ass” (my kids’ moment of the night!). Wish we could’ve stayed till the end, but 8 p.m. start times on school nights with two openers? A 7:30 start would’ve been perfect. Until next time, Sofi Tukker!

NYC Photo dump day 4 and 5. Charlotte’s 13th bday was a blast. When to the pop up Hello Kitty store at Nordstroms up town. Saw Deadpool and Wolverine in IMAX 3D. Absolutely amazing and a great movie for it.

Amazing steak at the Knickerbocker. With Gelato flowers after. A perfect day with family.

Hit the Met briefly (it is so so big) to visit Vincent for my Mother but also tradition!

Enjoy! We flew back the next day and the kids got priceless time with their Uncle Andrew and Auntie Luisa.

There has been talk of Knott’s Scary Farm for Halloween. So many coasters!

(Matt) PHOTO DUMP NYC - DAY TWO PT 1

Up bright and early on my actual Birthday I got to ride shotgun for once as Andrew drove us downtown and I was able to snap some pics and video of the skyscrapers and street scenes of lower Manhattan.

We went to the one and only Katz’s Deli for my b-day lunch. Got seated right away. Fantastic sandwiches. Matzah ball soup that is to die for. A line down the block when we left. The birthday fairies were in full effect.

In the summer of 1990 after we left the the Limelight or bounced out of a loft party we used to head to Katz’s as they were open late night and were always the best. Not much has changed in 34 years. Such a trip to be back.

Post lunch we took a drive around downtown and then across the Brooklyn Bridge and back. An iconic landmark for the kids to see.

Last pic is the fam ready to soak it in stage side at Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club . So good!

(Matt) Thanks to everyone for all the happy bday wishes! Just back from celebrating my 55th in NYC where we stayed with Andrew and Luisa in their lovely NJ home right across from midtown Manhattan. 

Fantastic visit. Michael’s first time in the city, second for Sarah and Charlotte. I first discovered House music at the Limelight during the summer of 1990 (the summer of Deee-lite) when I lived and worked in the city. 

I will dump these photos by Day if I can keep it under 10. 

PHOTO DUMP NYC - DAY ONE

Took the Red Eye. None of us really slept on the plane. We napped for three hours then took the ferry from NJ to visit the Statue of Liberty. Hot and sunny. An absolutely gorgeous day. 

First we toured the Ellis Island museum then ferried over to Liberty island where we walked around the base.

Striking Memorial for NJ residents lost on 9/11.

LONG hot walk to the train. But no melt downs with no rest was a success.

Dinner was amazing Korean BBQ in Korea Town via train allowed MJ to see Manhattan for the first time.

Great food. Good to be with family.
