📢 Friendly reminder: Organic social media is a long game, not a quick fix.

If you’re expecting overnight results, you’re setting yourself (and your social team) up for disappointment. It takes at least 3 months to see any movement and closer to 6 months for real, actionable insights.

Anyone telling you otherwise? đźš©đźš©đźš©

Trust the process, give your content time to work, and stop trying to rush something that literally requires consistency to succeed.

Organic social isn’t magic—it’s strategy, patience, and showing up again and again.

I was recently asked to do a social media audit for a brand, which is always the first step in building a solid strategy. But it got me thinking... how many businesses that DIY their social media actually know what to look for when doing an audit?

A social media audit isn’t just about checking follower counts or seeing which posts got the most likes. It’s about taking a step back to really understand what’s working, what’s not, and where there’s room to improve.

Here are a few key things to look for when auditing your own page:

✅ Brand Consistency – Does your content feel cohesive? Are your visuals, captions, and messaging aligned?
✅ Content Performance – What types of posts are actually resonating with your audience? What’s getting ignored?
✅ Audience Insights – Are you attracting and engaging the right people?
✅ Engagement & Growth Trends – Is your page growing, or has it hit a plateau?
✅ Content Pillars – Do you have 3-5 core themes that guide your content? A strong strategy includes a mix of educational, entertaining, and promotional content that keeps your audience engaged while reinforcing your brand.

👉 A good audit can give you so much clarity on what to focus on moving forward. If you’ve never done one (or aren’t sure where to start), let’s chat! I’d be happy to take a look and help you figure out what’s working—and what could be working better.

If you think the secret to social media success is high-production, fine-tuned, perfect content… I’ve got bad news.

Nobody’s scrolling through their feed thinking, Wow, that brand’s lighting is impeccable. But you know what they do think when they see something overly polished? Oh, it’s an ad. And they scroll right past.

Some of the best-performing content I’ve ever created wasn’t polished at all. It was raw, off-the-cuff, sometimes even a little chaotic. But it connected. Because people don’t log onto social media to watch commercials. They want stories, personality, and content that makes them feel something.

Your brand won’t stand out by being “flawless.” It’ll stand out by being real.

If you’re spending hours fine-tuning every little detail, take a step back. Less overthinking, more posting. Less perfection, more connection. You got this 💪

Yesterday, I shared a bit of a hot take about finding people on Upwork. But here’s the truth—I actually use Upwork a lot as a freelancer.

Like any platform, there are positives and negatives.

The positive?
Upwork is a goldmine for finding talented individuals. But here's the catch: You really have to put in the work to sift through all the noise, spammers, and low-quality proposals. When you do find the right person, though, it can be a game-changer.

The negative?
There are also plenty of people who claim to have a certain skill set, but in reality, they're relying heavily on AI tools to get the job done or slapping your logo on stock photos. This can cause all sorts of problems, from mismatched expectations to poor-quality work. And for agencies or businesses looking to outsource, that means you might end up paying for subpar results.

The key is to do your homework, be selective, and find the right fit. It’s a process, but it’s worth it when you get it right.

01/29/2025

No, I don’t outsource work to random people on Upwork for an unreasonably low rate.

When it comes to the work I do, I believe in quality, consistency, and putting my best foot forward. That means the work I create is done by me or trusted collaborators who know my standards and my clients’ needs.

I get it, outsourcing might sound like an easy fix. But for me, it’s about building relationships, providing value, and maintaining a level of trust with my clients. That’s why I keep it personal, always delivering work that I’m proud of.

No shortcuts here, just solid work from someone who’s in it for the long haul. 🔥

It’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of creating posts and sharing your latest content, but at the end of the day, you want to make sure you’re seeing results. So how do you know if your social media game is on point? It’s all about measuring the right things!

Here’s a quick guide to figuring out if your social media efforts are paying off:

Engagement: Likes, comments, shares, if people are interacting with your content, you’re definitely on the right track. Engagement is a sign that your content is sparking something in your audience.

Reach & Impressions: Reach tells you how many unique people saw your post, and impressions tell you how many times it showed up.

Website Traffic: If you’re getting clicks that drive people to your website, that’s a big win! It means your content is making people take action.

Conversions: The real proof in the pudding. Whether it’s a sale, a sign-up, or a download, conversions are where you see if your content is actually driving the results you want.

Follower Growth: If your followers are steadily increasing, it means people are digging your content and want to see more. Keep it going!

So, next time you’re wondering if your social media efforts are paying off, check in on these numbers. And remember, it’s all about tracking progress, not perfection and it's okay to pivot.

01/27/2025

When I first started creating content as a service, I was all about the well-thought-out, planned content. Every post, video, and piece of content had to be perfect, and I’d spend hours refining each one. But here’s the problem I didn’t see at the time…

I wasn’t focusing enough on B-Roll.

I didn’t step outside the plan enough to get extra footage, behind-the-scenes moments, or even spontaneous content that could serve as “backup” when things didn’t go as planned.

The result?
I ended up doing double the work later on. I didn't have enough spare content to work with when things hit the fan like last-minute requests or time crunches. I was scrambling to fill the gaps, instead of having a library of B-Roll to pull from.

Looking back, I realize how important it is to build flexibility into your content plan. B-Roll is key. The extra footage, the “in-between” moments, and the filler content make everything else feel more dynamic and authentic. It gives you the cushion you need when you need to switch gears or keep things fresh without starting from scratch.

So, if you're just getting started with content creation, take it from me... Don’t skimp on B-Roll. It’ll save you time, energy, and a lot of stress in the long run.

How to Build a Social Media Calendar (and keep your sanity)

If you’re looking to make social media less stressful, a content calendar is the way to go. Here’s how to build one that works for you:

✨Set Some Goals
Before you start, think about what you want to get out of all this posting. More likes? Traffic to your site? Just getting the word out? Clear goals = easier decisions later.

✨Pick Your Themes
What are your go-to topics? Maybe you’re all about industry tips, funny memes, or peeking behind the scenes. Pick a handful of things you love to talk about (3-5 is perfect) and run with those.

✨Decide How Often You Want to Post
You don’t have to post every day. Find a frequency that feels doable. Once a day? Three times a week? Whatever works, keep it chill.

✨Plan Around the Fun Stuff
Holidays, events, or anything that fits your brand? Mark it in your calendar! That way, you’re not scrambling to come up with last-minute content.

✨Batch It Like a Pro
Create a bunch of content all at once. It sounds like a lot, but it’ll save you time when life gets busy, and you’ll always be ahead of the game.

✨Use Tools to Keep It All Together
Stay organized! There are plenty of apps for scheduling, project management, and more.

✨Look Back & Adjust
After a couple of weeks, take a step back and see what’s working (and what’s not). Adjust your calendar if you need to, and keep things fresh!

✨Why It’s Totally Worth It

Stay Consistent: No more “oops, I forgot to post today.”
Save Time: Get ahead and avoid last-minute panic.
Keep It Fresh: Switch it up to keep your feed exciting.
Stay Focused: Keep your goals in mind and get there, one post at a time.

The best part? A calendar doesn’t have to be a strict, stressful thing, it’s just a way to make your life easier so you can focus on what matters. Now go on, start planning and feel the magic. ✨

Hiring an agency or freelancer for social media can be a game-changer, but it works best when they feel like part of your team, not just some outside help.

The trick? Treat them like you’d treat anyone in-house.

Start by sharing your goals, brand voice, and anything that makes your business unique. The more they understand your vibe, the easier it’ll be for them to create content that actually feels like you.

Keep the communication open and simple. Regular check-ins, sharing updates, and giving clear feedback go a long way. Processes like content approvals and deadlines don’t need to be complicated, just something everyone’s on the same page about.

Most importantly, build a relationship with them. Get to know them, share ideas, and let them get to know your business. It makes the whole process feel less like outsourcing and more like working with your own team.

Done right, a contracted social media team can feel just as connected as if they were sitting in your office.

Have you worked with an outside team before? How was that experience? I’d love to hear what worked for you.

01/22/2025

Want a marketing team without the price tag?

Hiring an in-house marketing team sounds amazing, but when you start adding up salaries, benefits, and resources, it quickly becomes unrealistic for most small businesses.

That’s where a full-service social media agency can help.

With an agency, you get access to a team of experts in strategy, content creation, and management without the hassle of overhead or onboarding. It’s like having an in-house team, just more flexible and cost-effective.

Agencies also bring a lot of experience to the table. Working across different industries means they know what works, what doesn’t, and how to adapt to trends. They can also scale their services up or down based on your needs, so you’re only paying for what you’ll actually use.

For small businesses, outsourcing social media is more than just a budget-friendly option. It’s a way to focus on what you do best while the experts handle your marketing.

Have you thought about working with a social media agency? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Creating content that stands out without overthinking it.

Great content doesn’t have to mean professional cameras, fancy equipment, or hours of editing. In fact, some of the most engaging content comes from keeping it simple and real.

When I’m creating content for clients, here’s what I focus on:

👉 Photos that feel real. Good lighting, a clear focus, and natural moments go a long way. Whether it’s a candid shot or a quick product pic, you don’t need perfection, just something that feels authentic.

👉 Videos that connect. You don’t need a big production to make an impact. A quick iPhone video showing behind-the-scenes moments or how something works can resonate more than anything overly polished.

👉 Design that’s easy to get. Bold, simple graphics with a clear message are everything. People are scrolling fast, make it easy for them to stop and take it in.

👉 Make it last. One piece of content can go a long way. A single video or photo set can be turned into Reels, Stories, carousels, you name it.

Content creation doesn’t have to be complicated to work. It’s all about making something that feels real and resonates with the people you’re trying to reach.

TikTok's ban was delayed again. What now?

TikTok isn’t going anywhere...for now. But if you’re a marketer or business owner, this uncertainty should be a reminder to think long-term about your social strategy.

Here’s the reality: no platform is guaranteed. TikTok, Instagram, Facebook—they’re all tools, but you don’t own them. If you’re relying too heavily on one, it’s time to rethink.

Here's what I’m focusing on:

- Diversifying content. TikTok videos can easily be repurposed for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, or even Pinterest. Your audience likely uses multiple platforms, meet them where they are.

- Building beyond social. Social platforms are great for visibility, but your website, email list, or community can give you stability.

- Staying flexible. Trends and platforms change all the time. The brands that thrive are the ones ready to adapt.

TikTok might not be banned today, but we’ve seen how quickly things can change. This is the perfect time to check in on your strategy and make sure it’s built for the future.

What are your thoughts—are you preparing for this, or sticking with TikTok all the way? Let me know!

Are hashtags dead in 2025? Once upon a time, hashtags were the secret sauce to getting your content seen. But in 2025? Do they even matter anymore?

Short answer: Not really.

Longer answer: They’re not completely useless, but they’re definitely not the growth hack they used to be. Social media platforms have evolved—algorithms now prioritize relevance, engagement, and watch time way more than a list of hashtags at the bottom of your post.

So if you’re spending more time picking hashtags than actually making content, it’s time to shift focus.

Are you still using hashtags, or have you moved on?

01/16/2025

Here's why we don’t batch a full month of content at once. Simple: social media moves way too fast for that.

We create content on a weekly rolling basis so we can:

✨ Pivot when needed. If something isn’t working, we can adjust, rather than being stuck with a month of content that’s already locked in.

✨ Jump on trends (when they make sense). Social isn’t just about planning, it’s about being in the moment. If there’s an opportunity to hop on a relevant trend, we want to take it.

✨ Avoid burnout (for us & our clients). Planning a whole month at once? Overwhelming. Planning in shorter cycles? Way more manageable and effective.

Sure, we have a strategy and structure, but we also leave room for creativity, adaptability, and actual engagement with what’s happening right now. That’s what makes social media work.

01/15/2025

I get it—your brand is your baby. You want every post to be just right. But if you’re hovering over every caption, making endless edits, and taking days to approve content… you’re slowing your own growth.

Social media moves fast. By the time you’ve reworded that post for the fifth time, the trend has passed, your competitors have already jumped on it, and the moment is gone.

The brands that actually grow? They’re the ones who trust their social media team to do their job. When you give them the freedom to create, experiment, and pivot when needed, here’s what happens:

- Your content actually connects with people (because it doesn’t feel like it was written by a committee)
- Your engagement goes up instead of staying flat
- Your brand doesn’t get stuck in approval limbo

So, if you’re feeling stuck, ask yourself: Are you letting your social team do what they do best, or are you overthinking every single post? Trust them. Let them do their thing. That’s how you get results.

01/14/2025

I get it, you want your content to be just right before you post. The lighting could be better, the edit could be cleaner, the caption needs one more tweak.

So you wait. And tweak. And wait some more. Meanwhile, the brands actually growing? They’re just posting. Because here’s the truth: social media moves fast. If you’re waiting for perfection, you’re already behind.

✅ A “meh” post that goes live will always beat a perfect post that never sees the light of day.
✅ The only way to get better at content… is by actually making it.
âś… The algorithm loves consistency, not perfection.

So if you’re sitting on a post, overthinking it—just hit publish. Let it be a little messy. Learn from it. Keep going. Perfection won’t grow your brand. Showing up will!
