Salvation Army to offer mobile
pantry Friday morning in Tarpon Springs
TARPON SPRINGS — On Friday morning, the Salvation Army in Tarpon Springs will hold a Hurricane Irma mobile food pantry for fresh foods and disaster-related items in order to help impacted families expedite their recovery after Irma.
About 300+ clients/families are expected to receive assistance.
When 78% of Pinellas County (550,000 households) lost power due to Irma, many
lost food supplies, and replenishing those supplies can be costly for many
residents.
This event is one way The Salvation Army is helping the Tampa Bay community recover, Dulcinea N. Cuellar said in a press release as director of public relations for the Salvation Army - Florida Division.
Cuellar provided a time-lapse video of mobile pantry preparations at a recent, similar event.

This morning before driving to work, a citizen saw a small stray kitten in her yard briefly. While driving down US 19 from Holiday, she heard what sounded like a kitten crying from the engine compartment of her 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe.
She pulled over to the side of the road but couldn't find the cat.
Later, she pulled into Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue Station 69 (444 S. Huey Ave) and asked ifor assistance.
The fire rescue squad didn't find the animal on the first attempt.
Later, the rescuers took the wheel off the car, and
partially removed the wheel well liner. While looking into the engine compartment the kitten was observed to be hiding in a small area of the fender well. Removing a few parts the kitten was able to be rescued unharmed, and the driver took custody of the young kitten.
