Crossroads HIDTA Task Force members including Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, Victoria County Sheriff's Office, Port Lavaca Police Department, and Goliad County Sheriff's Office conducted an inspection on multiple rail cars in Calhoun County. During the inspection, a narcotic detection K9's indicated a positive alert to the presence of narcotic odor emitting from one of the rail cars. Task force members located tampering to rail car frames. The tampering led to the exposure of a trap door that accessed the internal area to the frame rail. Upon removing the trap door, it was determined the compartment contained contraband suspected to be methamphetamine. Further inspection of the rail car yielded a second compartment on the opposite frame rail. A total of 128 kilos (256 lbs) was removed from the rail cars frame. No further information to report at this time as the investigation continues.
