Gold Rush Jewelry & Coin Owner Arrested
Sequim Police City of Port Angeles Fire Department

On 08/29/2024 at approximately 9:15 AM Sequim Police Officers, with the assistance of the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET), successfully served a search warrant at Gold Rush Jewelry and Coin located in the 400 Block of E. Washington St. The search warrant is related to numerous ongoing investigations related to the business and owner. A previous search warrant was served on a related financial account.

During the warrant service, Gold Rush Jewelry and Coin owner, Kurt Miller, was arrested on multiple counts of alleged unlawful issuance of bank checks (UIBC) and theft. Over the past several months, multiple people in our community have reported that after selling, buying, or consigning precious metals at Gold Rush Jewelry and Coin they were paid by Miller in check (either in full or partial payment). When some attempted to cash or deposit the checks, the checking account was alleged to have insufficient funds (NSF) leaving them without their precious metals or the money owed by Miller. All cases combined, there is well over $100,000 dollars allegedly owed. There are currently 19 identified victims.

The investigation into other allegations of additional UIBC and theft crimes is ongoing and being conducted by Sequim Police Department.
