Casey Regusci - Marine Veteran
I was born and raised in California. When I graduated high school, I left home and went to work. After a few years of working I decided to go to college close to home in Monterey, CA. I ran into an issue when the CAD classes I needed for my degree in Architecture were full. I tried taking basic courses, but I wasn’t interested at the time. Going back to work and moving away from home again, I felt like my life was going nowhere, I needed something more fulfilling. I was 22 when I joined the Marine Corps out of Sacramento, Ca. MEPS as a Heavy Equipment Operator. After bootcamp, MCT and MOS school I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. I was with the 1st FSSG SPT CO HE OPS PLT. I was medically discharged with a spinal cord injury in 2005. After the Corps I had a child and attended college. It was tough as a single mom with a little one going to school full time, but I graduated with An Associates Degree in Business Administration in 2008. I’ve held a lot of odd jobs; I am defiantly a Jane of all trades. I’ve worked as a supervisor at a humane society and department stores, Clinic coordinator at the Monterey County SPCA, Construction worker and painter. In 2013 I was married and had 2 more children. After a 5-year abusive marriage, I packed my children up and moved far away to Poplar Bluff Missouri. I got my divorce finalized in 2017 and have been doing well for myself and my children. I utilized the HUD/VASH program at the John J. Pershing VA Hospital which got me and my children into a home I could afford. I was blessed with getting a paid internship at the Mark Twain National forest as a Recreation Technician through the VETSWORK program. I worked with the Forest Service for a year and a half as a rec tech. I became certified in operating ATV’s and UTV’s, crosscut sawyer certified and trailer certified. I was Awarded a certificate of Appreciation for all the work I put into my job. Currently I am working at the John J. Pershing VA Hospital. I have received 3 ICARE awards for my work ethic and quality. I am also involved with the SSgt. Eric Summers Marine Corps League Det. 1473 Poplar Bluff Mo. I believe that no matter what you are going through in life, small steps toward an easy goal could be huge leaps to a better future.
Jamie Hoggard - Army Veteran
Born May 20th 1983 in Paragould Arkansas. Moved to Southeast Missouri when I was about 5 years old. Went to school in Malden Missouri and graduated high school with honors in 2001. Went to work for the my uncle after high school. Quit my job and joined the Army as an Infantryman after 9/11 and completed basic training at Fort Benning. Was stationed with the 25th Infantry Division (Light) our of Hawaii and deployed to Iraq in January 2004 and earned his EIB and Air Assault wings. Had the pleasure of serving alongside some of America’s roughest and toughest men to ever walk the face of the Earth. Was hurt when an IED blew up the the HMMWV I was driving in November 2004 and was lucky to survive. Spent a month in a field hospital on Kirkuk Airbase and returned to my unit to finish the deployment around Christmas 2004. Returned to Hawaii in April 2005 and was medically discharged after fighting to stay in and being unable to because I was no longer deployable. I was awarded a Purple Heart and an ARCOM during this deployment. I returned home and took a job as a Warehouse Manager at a cotton distribution and storage company. They closed the doors in 2007 and I went to college and got my Associates Degree in Elementary Education but found I did not have the patience or mental health to be a teacher so I took another job as in metal fabrication at Nordyne. They too shut down and went to Mexico at which time I took a job at Noranda an aluminum smelter in New Madrid Missouri. They also shut down and at that time I took a position at the local VA hospital the JJP VAMC in Poplar Bluff Missouri where I currently work in Logistics. I enjoy working for an organization that supports and cares for fellow veterans. I specialize in weapons and marksmanship and am a jack of all trades. I am married to a wonderful woman named Wendy Hoggard who is a pediatric nurse. I have a son named Ryker (10) and a daughter named Adysen (17) from precious relationships and three step children, two boys Cole and Logan and Madisyn my step daughter. I am truly blessed to still be alive and try to live each day to its fullest potential. I am happy to be a part of the DOW team and work with some of the finest veterans there is. Anything I can do to help another veteran I will do. We shall never forget the events of 9-11 and the way it changed the lives of so many innocent Americans. The way it brought out the bravest and finest soldiers from across this great nation and put them all together for one common goal. The battle does not end when these warriors come home it goes on long after.
God Bless America.
