History of KOKs 89.5
King of Kings Christian Radio 89.5 FM of Poplar Bluff, MO was founded in 1987 by Nina and Don Stewart. They ran the radio station along with their son, Ben, for approximately 16 years until Mr. Stewart passed away. For the past 15 or so years, Ms. Nina Stewart and her son ran the station.
In 2018, Ms. Nina Stewartold KOKS 89.5 FM to Gerald Woolverton, due to illness and financial difficulties. Gerald became the new owner/manager.
The new staff includes: Ann McAllister as DJ/Secretary, Ron Fowler as volunteer DJ/FCC Advisor, Lisa Woolverton as Assistant Manager/Program Director/Secretary, Joyce Fowler as DJ, and John Young as volunteer DJ.
In addition to DJing, Ann McAllister sponsors the 2 Girls Bluegrass Program on Tuesday nights from 6-7 PM. While Ron Fowler sponsors the Ron Fowler Get Together Program on Monday nights from 6-8 PM and the Homespun Gospel Hour on Thursday nights from 5:45-6:45 PM. Monday through Friday one of our DJ’s are live from 10 AM-1 PM taking song and prayer requests, and announcing the community news, obituaries, and weather.
