After almost 4" of snow falling in the city last night roads continue to be icy and sluggish this afternoon. City roads and thoroughfares aren't bad but the most dangerous road right now is the one right outside your house. Roads in town became icy and snow packed as a snow squall blasted through town over the last hour bringing 1" to 4" into the city. If you're going to attempt to drive-in this in the next few minutes take extreme caution. Travel is not advised at this point as we are still under a snow snow squall warning. AFTERNOON TRAVEL FORECAST ~ Thanks to warm air advection and some sunlight we are seeing showers breaking out across the region in the valleys and moderate to heavy snow in the higher elevations. City roads are wet but not frozen yet. However, we are already seeing the city showers turn into snow. This in turn will act as a cooling mechanism to help drop temperatures faster leading to hazardous road conditions in town soon.
