NEW YORK (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump has been sentenced in his New York hush money case, but the judge has declined to impose any punishment. The sentence pronounced Friday by Manhattan Judge Juan M. Merchan cements Trump's conviction while freeing him to return to the White House unencumbered by the threat of a jail term or a fine. It caps a norm-smashing case that saw the Republican convicted of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to a payment to bury affair allegations that threatened to cloud his 2016 presidential run. Yet it didn't hurt him with voters. Trump denies wrongdoing and has vowed to appeal.

NEW YORK (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump was sentenced Friday in his hush money case, but the judge declined to impose any punishment.

On Wednesday January 8, 2025, Officers with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department Drug Task Force (MCDTF), assisted by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, located and arrested 46 year old Nathan Vanderaa of Plymouth, near the intersection of Walnut Street and Madison Street in Plymouth. Vanderaa was the target of an investigation by MCDTF which resulted in the issuance of a warrant for his arrest on a charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine as a Level 4 Felony. He is currently being held on a $250,000 cash bond.
The allegations contained in the probable cause affidavit supporting the issuance of the arrest warrant executed on Wednesday are alleged to have occurred while Vanderaa was free on a $50,000 cash bond he previously posted on a pending charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine filed in June, 2024 in Marshall Superior Court 1. It has been previously reported Vanderaa had a short stint as an Indiana State Police Officer.
Lead Detective (Det.) Sergeant (Sgt.) Jonathan Bryant, commends the cooperative efforts of all law enforcement agencies involved.
Prosecuting Attorney Nelson Chipman added, “I am grateful for the work of the Marshall County Drug Task Force, Det. Sgt. Bryant, and the collaborative efforts of the officers from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department that safely conducted this operation resulting in the arrest.”
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed. Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales Starts 2025 Visits to All 92 Counties

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales starts statewide visits to all 92 counties in 2025.

These visits are designed to strengthen community engagement, build valuable partnerships, and highlight office initiatives. Secretary Morales will travel across Indiana to meet with mayors, local officials, business leaders, and Hoosiers in each county.

With a week into the new year, Secretary Morales has already visited several counties with more stops planned throughout the week and month.

This is Secretary Morales’ third official round of visiting all 92 counties.

In 2023, he visited all 92 counties within 6 months.

Last year, he broke his own record and did it within 3 months.

“I’m excited to return to every corner of our great state again to meet with our local leaders and share the important work happening in our office. Visiting all 92 counties allows me to hear directly from Hoosiers we serve, learn about their priorities, and promote the services our office provides. Whether in elections, business services, or consumer protection, we strive to continue to meet the evolving needs of our state. I want our local leaders to know they have a partner in the Secretary of State’s Office,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.

During the statewide visits, Secretary Morales will hold one-on-one meetings with local leaders and stakeholders.

These visits provide an opportunity for Secretary Morales to share new office initiatives and gain input on how the Secretary of State’s Office can continue to be a resource at the local level, to ensure community leaders and Hoosiers have access to the tools and support needed for success.
