Strong to severe storms are possible near and along a front/dryline on Monday. Damaging winds, tornadoes, hail, and localized flooding will all be possible, particularly near and east of I-35. Make sure to have multiple ways to receive warnings and stay weather aware!

National Preparedness Month Topic #4 for today: Hail is chunks of ice falling from high up in the thunderstorm. It will sting, injure or worse if you stay outside during a hail storm. Seek shelter inside, away from windows, and wait until after the storm has safely passed before venturing outside to look at the hail. Here are some tips on how to properly measure and report hail to the National Weather Service.

Oh HAIL no! We have confirmed a new regional record for largest diameter hailstone. A hailstone measuring 5.9 inches across fell in Sanger, TX (Denton Co.) on June 15th. This stone is shy of the state record (6.42") which fell in Hondo, TX in 2021.

Strong to severe storms are expected across North and Central Texas this afternoon into tonight. Very large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes will all be possible. Make sure you stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings!
