Dylan White’s Delmo’s-Built 1963 Chevy C10

I couldn’t think of a better way to kick off the new Classic Truck Performance than with a cover feature of one of my good friend Delmo’s latest builds: Dylan White’s laid-out and classy 1963 Chevy C10.

Doug had always wanted a high-performance ’69 Camaro, and what you see on these pages fills the bill very nicely. With the likes of Camaro Concepts, FatBoys Custom Paint, Gabe’s Custom Interior, Pat Maxwell Designs, and Mike Goldman Customs helping with the build there was little doubt the end result wouldn’t be stunning. Literally every piece of this ’69 Camaro was touched from the ground up.

I first laid eyes on Pat’s Cameo at the Grand National Roadster Show this past year when Limitless Fabrication debuted it in the prestigious Building 4—it was actually the amazing, curved black walnut bed floor (by brother Mark Graham) that first caught my attention … but the flawless House of Kolor Kandy Apple Red (by Dave Lopez) that kept me glued to the truck for quite some time thereafter

Fleetside. A pickup truck having flat bedsides; i.e., no protruding (removable) rear fenders, hence the term “quarter-panels.”

The ’32 Ford highboy roadster pickup belonging to David Kennedy of Tennessee.
At first what appears to be an old-style “black” cap distributor is really a PerTronix conversion with matching coil. The exhaust manifolds are coated stainless steel Speedway Ram Horns with 2-1/2-inch mandrel-bent exhaust pipe flowing through a pair of Flowmaster mufflers. Other engine accessories include an Alan Grove alternator bracket with a chrome stator and an electric fan with a custom aluminum fan shroud that bolts to the Walker Radiator copper and brass unit.

“The GMC sat in our warehouse for about 15 years [where] several people had attempted to fix the brakes during that period. A friend replaced a lot of the wiring and various parts over the years in his garage, but the brakes were always a problem for daily driving. I’d known Nick at Killer Hot Rods and was familiar with his work, so I decided to let him have a shot at finishing the job in July 2018. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted, so I turned Nick loose on the project with a ‘liberal’ budget!

“I had a ’49 pickup as my first vehicle back in 1969 as a sophomore at Killeen High School [in Texas] … I paid $50 for it … drove it one year to school … then sold it for $50.

Pete Jacob’s Pro Street ’63 Nova By Nick Licata – Photography by Jason Matthew For Pete Jacob, the car bug bit him at a young age. Starting at about 11, building model cars took up a good chunk of his time. That little hobby led to working on cars with his older brother who at […]

While this was a project that spanned a number of years, the last push to get the wagon done can easily be called a pandemic build. Overall Tom is quite satisfied with the outcome. The wagon made it out in the spring of 2021 to its first show and was very well received. When asked if there is anything that he would consider doing differently, he states, “I would have liked to put an LSA supercharger on it at some point, but now I’m leaning toward an eight-stack. There are some decent looking ones being made, so maybe within the next year.”

Before the SUV and the minivan there was the station wagon. One can arguably state that when it comes to the station wagon America has done it bigger and better than anyone else.
