Crews will return to fight the Butternut Fire in Great Barrington in the morning, although officials are saying the fire may not be fully extinguished until winter.

Seen here: A helicopter gathers water from the snowmaking pond at Butternut Ski Area, located less than a mile from the fire. If that water supply becomes diminished, the team will expand to other sources according to Lee Fire Chief Ryan Brown.

Beginning early this fall, your residential curbside trash and recycling will be picked up by an automated side-load truck. A recycling cart will be delivered to your residence mid-September to early October and your trash cart will be delivered mid-October to early November. Residents will no longer have to provide their own bins. There is no need to be home to receive your carts. Carts will include additional instructions for placement as well as a calendar and frequently asked questions.
