DJ Easy Ed (Easy Ed's Record Hop), formerly of Boston, Mass, is a Pittsburgh-based, vinyl-only DJ specializing in rare and rockin' 45s—vintage R&B, Rock ‘n’ Roll, Rockabilly, and more. He hosted the Primitive Sounds DJ night at Brass Union in Somerville, Mass, and spun regularly at other venues in the Boston area, as well as at national and international festivals (Viva Las Vegas, The New England

Happy Friday, friends! "Easy Ed's Variety Hour" (final WMFO broadcast) will be on the air soon--6:00 to 8:00 PM Eastern on 91.5 FM in the Boston area and streaming at wmfo.org. Tonight's show is also available for anytime listening at https://easyed.podbean.com; on the same site you'll find about six years' worth of older shows.

Watch this space for updates on future plans--the show will be taking a break, at least for a while. We will also post updates here about live DJ events in the Boston area when the time comes. Hi, folks. "Easy Ed's Variety Hour" will conclude its run on WMFO with a final broadcast this Friday, May 14 (6:00 to 8:00 PM Eastern on 91.5 FM in the Boston area and streaming at wmfo.org.). Huge thanks go out to WMFO for hosting the program these past 16 years; to the other DJs I’ve worked with at the station and at live events, gigs, and festivals; to all the bands who have performed live in the studio and have shared their music so that I could share it on the show; and to the many people in the U.S. and abroad who have rocked along with us over the years—your listenership made it all worthwhile. Very special thanks go out to my wife, Beth, and my kids, for their patience and support.

WMFO is a student-run radio station that generously allows nonstudent volunteers, like me, to DJ on their airwaves. And it’s a fantastic deal—just follow a few FCC regulations, learn to use the equipment, and the rest is up to you—each DJ is fully responsible for their own programming. Such freedom is rare. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity this station provided.

The future’s a bit murky, but I’ll be a DJ ‘til I die, so this radio show, or some variation, may return somewhere down the line. If the post-pandemic world allows, I also plan to continue event promotion and live DJing in the Boston area. (Keep an eye out for “Easy Ed’s Record Hop” and “Primitive Sounds,” our ongoing live DJ night.) The best way to reach me going forward is by email ([email protected]).
