World Of Women (WOW) meets Sharon Harris!
A Woman of Compassion and Determination
Sharon Harris is not just a devoted wife and mother of two daughters; she is also a grandmother and a woman with a heart committed to making a difference. With over a decade of experience in retail management, followed by a successful career at the post office where she began as a carrier and eventually rose to the position of supervisor, Sharon has demonstrated her exceptional work ethic and leadership skills.
Sharon's journey took an impactful turn when she dedicated her time and efforts to a residential treatment center and emergency shelter for children in foster care. Over 13 years, alongside her husband, she opened their home to foster children ranging from 2 to 17 years old. Managing children with behavioral challenges became second nature to Sharon, and it was during this time that she recognized a growing need for specialized care for teenage girls.
Fueled by her compassion and a desire to make a lasting impact, Sharon became a founding partner of "She Can," a residential treatment center specifically designed for girls in foster care. Recognizing yet another unmet need, Sharon extended her efforts to address the unique challenges faced by pregnant teenage girls in foster care. This led to the establishment of "Her Heart Can," where Sharon serves as the founder and executive director.
Her Heart Can is more than a pregnancy home; it is a resource center dedicated to providing support, mentorship, and parenting resources for teenage girls in foster care. Sharon's vision and determination drive the organization's mission to create a safe and nurturing space for these young mothers and their babies.
Sharon firmly believes that she can achieve anything if she can dream, and her life's work stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Through her various roles and initiatives, Sharon continues to inspire those around her with her resilience, compassion, and the belief that every individual has the power to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
