THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF OUR PAGE!!!!
Life, life often gets in the way of what we hope to do when we hope to do it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
And so little content in one year... let's fix that now.
The restoration project is in full swing!
Since that first post, we've had Rolox Home Services, LLC, come in and completely remove and replace over 70 windows. Talk about an amazing company to work with!!! They weren't the cheapest, but often you get what you pay for and we are VERY pleased.
We hired another company to do the facia board, facia, and roof. I won't mention names because I've contacted the Missouri Attorney General's office and the Better Business Bureau about the situation. The job was done, but not up to the expectations of our lifetime home. To quote one of the project managers, "We didn't know you were going to live there."
The HVAC system had been sitting for YEARS. Motors rusted, capacitors blown, breaker no longer breaking. A very kind man from Columbus, Kansas, came on up to Pittsburg to help me work on it. He got the system going in no time. If ever you need anyone to do some HVAC work, you need to get ahold of Amos Cupp.
Shoutout to Avery Bass, Saul Fontanez, and Sam Hodgson for helping move a TON of junk and Carolyn's things (which are definitely not junk). These young men can get it done - and with a smile! Or that could have been the donuts I brought that did that.
With local lumber yards and a Home Depot, we never imagined heading over to Menards in Joplin to get our cabinets and countertops. Jason in the cabinetry department was top-notch and helped us work through every detail. Spent probably a total of 8 hours working through designs with us and clarifying every detail.
While that order is coming in, demolition of the kitchen and prepping the spaces for the cabinets has begun. I need to install a mini-split upstairs. Waiting on the trencher about replacing water and sewage lines. Getting the basement ready for some waterproofing. And finally going to get a toilet that doesn't drain into a chimney.
