The holidays are coming, are you ready? What’s your favorite part of the season? The lights, the sounds, sights or smell? Or maybe it’s the cookies…

I love checking out neighborhood decorations or displays. In this city, people tend to go over-the-top to bring those holiday vibes. There’s usually a list posted of the best houses to check out for decorations. Maybe your city has that too? Check it out. It’s a fun and easy way to get into the holiday spirit.

Balanced Rock in Lees Ferry, AZ. How did this come to be? The area is littered with all kinds of giant boulders (and a quick Google search uncovers many balanced rocks around in other regions).

This rock came to be when it broke from the cliff above and tumbled down. The hard conglomerate boulder then compressed the softer dirt directly beneath, making it resistant to erosion. The boulder also acted as a massive umbrella (how nice!) protecting the stone beneath from years of wind and rain. Over time, at least 6 feet (2.8 m) of the surrounding loose ground was carried away, by wind, rain, flash floods and other weather, leaving an ever-growing pedestal with a balanced rock perched on top. At some point, the sheltering boulder may become too much weight for its little pedestal, and topple over.

Man, I love a good live gig, and these guys know how to deliver. My Morning Jacket has amassed a good library of material to draw on and is known for putting on great live shows. Their fans are awesome, too.

Over a quarter century, the discography of this indie rock band consists of nine studio albums, 12 extended plays, 22 singles, five music videos, three compilation albums, eleven live albums, and one video album.

Happy Monday! How's everyone doing? I'd like to send a "welcome" to a few new followers, and thank you! I am always thrilled when anyone finds my little page and throws a little love my way.

Here’s a fresh edit of an image taken just west of Toronto. They call these buildings the "Marilyn Monroe" towers. Known locally as Absolute World, it is a residential condominium twin tower skyscraper complex in the five-tower Absolute City Centre development in Mississauga, Ontario. The taller building received the nickname of "Marilyn Monroe" tower due to its curvaceous, hourglass figure likened to actress Marilyn Monroe.

The beautiful red rock monuments in Arizona stick out like a sore thumb.

The West and East Mitten Buttes (also known as the Mittens) are two buttes in the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park in northeast Navajo County, Arizona. When viewed from the south, the buttes appear to be two giant mittens with their thumbs facing inwards.

Monument 83 Trailhead in beautiful Manning Park, British Columbia. The trail is an 18.5 mile out and back. Considered challenging, is it currently closed. We had zero plans to hike and were just driving by, but these trees caught my eyes! I bet it's a stunning hike. Throughout our drive on the Crowsnest Hwy the trees were calling to me with their light dusting of snow (now heavily covered). Winter has arrived in parts to the north.

Bridal Veil Falls Park in Chilliwack, B.C. Access to the falls requires a short hike from the parking lot and well-groomed trails, taking most groups 15-25 minutes. The beautiful trees and river that runs off are also worth this easy stop. Take note, the walk up to the Falk’s is steep, but short.

Salt Lake City airport has had a major upgrade! It’s beautiful! I did something today I never do - I paid to take an earlier flight with 35 minutes to connect! The DL agent said “they won’t sell you a ticket unless you can make it”. So here I am with zero minutes to spare. I landed at the same time that I was boarding my next flight. I hustled from the B gates to the A gates in less than 15 minutes and reached my gate with the “now boarding” still flashing.

Perched high on the hill overlooking Osoyoos Lake, and dramatic Okanagan Range, is the Nk’Mip Cellars and vineyard and part of the Cascade Mountains, is this luxury resort. Welcome to Canada’s only desert, a place sacred to the Osoyoos Indian Band.
