Last week, we celebrated Mark Trahant’s incredible legacy as he concluded his tenure at ICT. For five decades, Mark has transformed Indigenous journalism with fearless leadership.

As we look ahead to 2025, we’re building on his vision with a focus on storytelling, broadcasting, and mentoring the next generation of journalists.

With 2 weeks left in our year-end campaign, we’re 42% toward our $75,000 goal. Every dollar donated now has double the impact thanks to a generous $10,000 match from our board of directors.

Help us honor Mark’s legacy and amplify Indigenous voices. Donate today: https://ictnews.fundjournalism.org/donate/?campaign=701Uq00000Go6uIIAR

We strive to continue paving the way toward a more inclusive and equitable media landscape.

Because of partners like you championing our success along the way, our Indigenous-led newsroom has grown into the largest and most comprehensive source of information by and about Indigenous peoples.

See what inspires others to give to IndiJ Public Media in testimonials from our donors like:

“I support independent journalism and want the Indigenous voice to be heard.” ~Deb L.

“I’ve read your stories since the first issue and depend on it for great news- keeping me informed on Tribal issues - and the wonderful humanity. You are doing a great job!” ~Katherine B.

“Because journalism costs money, and Native American communities and issues are routinely neglected by national, state and local news organizations.” ~Bill O.

Did you know less than 1% of professional reporters in the U.S. are Indigenous?

At ICT, we’re working to grow that number. Through our national internship program, we mentor and coach the next generation of Indigenous journalists while launching new reporting bureaus across the country.

JoVonne Wagner (Blackfeet Nation), pictured, is a recent graduate of our internship program and exemplifies its impact. Starting as an ICT intern, she gained invaluable experience covering Montana’s Indigenous caucus. Today, she’s a full-time reporter at Montana Free Press, continuing to tell important stories.

This Veterans Day, we honor the legacy and impact of Indigenous service members who have defended this land with courage and resilience.

Native American and Alaska Native people serve in the military at a higher rate per capita than any other group, yet their stories often go unheard. At ICT, we are dedicated to sharing these powerful narratives and amplifying Indigenous voices year-round.

Help us continue this important work. Donate today to support Indigenous journalism that uplifts and empowers our communities.
