FREE ADVICE FRIDAY:

Over the past year or so, I have lost both my mom and dad to old age. While going through their things, my sister has become extremely insistent on keeping both my mom's and dad's wedding rings. We have a brother as well, and luckily he doesn't seem to care much. My sister, however, has been hoarding almost everything of my mom and dad's. I was hoping to at least get something of sentimental value, and I'm not sure why she thinks it would be fair to keep both. She said that they would want her to have them, and she's never been married so she thinks that makes it more fair?? Many of my friends have passed down their family rings to their kids, as I would love to do for mine. My sister doesn't have kids. My parents didn't specify anything about their rings in the will. I have asked her kindly to please reconsider, and she keeps digging her heels in. At this point, I don't have much from my parents. I'm not sure how to handle this.

Am I a jerk for telling my kids to say "no thanks" to the candy they don't want this year for Halloween? I just feel like the whole thing is wasteful because we end up throwing away all the candy they don't eat anyway. So this year when an adult is handing them candy they don't like, I'm encouraging them to politely decline and walk away. Am I A Jerk?
